Go ahead and be mean.....Your teacher is smothering you with dung. Cut them loose. Sounds like you have pretty well figured out the program outlined for you by the witnesses. Move on and count your blessings. Please do not become a JW...

They won't leave me alone!!!! What can I do?
by almostbitten ini'm new to this site.
i'm not a jw but have studied with them largely because i wanted to know for myself what jws believed and wanted to hear it from them, not from others (i.e.
catholics, baptists, methodists, etc.).

The Efficacy of JWs Shunning (Your experiences and analysis)
by JW_Researcher inim doing a bit of research for an academic paper on shunning and am interested in your response to any or all of these questions.. please think back to when you were a jw (if necessary) or to other jws you knew.. 1) does shunning work?
(for example, does it bring sinners to their senses?
does it keep the congregation clean?

Hello:
Some have tried to shun me since I resigned. It always has been in a public setting. They try to do it and fail miserably at it. I always am pleasant and smile and maybe say hello.
My wife on the other hand had a job for a few years in a local Doctors office where the office manager and receptionist were JW's and personally knew my wife. They had to work with her and they were really pissy to her most of the time. They eventially got her fired. A lot of the local JW's were patients there. Some were really rude to my wife and others were perfectly amiliable and pleasant.
To put it in a nutshell at least in our area, the ones that try to shun us have always been kind of anal anyway in the best of times and, so their style of shunning carries over nicely to treating someone like a pile of shit.
When I was attending meetings I never was unpleasant to disfellowshipped ones attending meeting or in any other setting. You know they might just get reinstated at some point and then they will always remember how they were treated by you. I did not wish for anyone to suffer any ill treatment from me.My worldly parents brought me up with way better manners than some JW's who think they are top dog.

This JW that was defrauding your name needs to be brought down to earth. Aude is correct. You have legal grounds to go after this clown.

Resurrection Hope - People in the Future who think they have lived before
by VM44 inaccording to the watchtower, a resurrected being is a body that has placed within it the memories and attributes of a person who had lived before.. the "life force" is transferred to the body to bring it alive.
also according to the watchtower, the "life force" is impersonal and contains no personality.
it is like electricity in that it is an actuating force.. ok, so in the future there will be billions of people with memories of having lived on the earth.

Why does this matter to us? The whole concept of resurrection is scary.
Have a very good friend still in. She has been disfellowshipped twice. Some wise ass told her that even though her sins were forgiven upon reinstatement she was like a broken vase that had been put back together....and always, always everyone will be able to see the cracks.
So being reinstated is a bit of a resurrection too.
I am way off topic, sorry.

Unique but accurate observation about KHs from a "woldly" person
by Lady Zombie ini was out this weekend with a group of my "worldly" friends.
the majority of them don't know that i'd been a witness in the past, nor did they know that my family still is.. i'm not sure how we got on the subject of religions, but one guy asked, "what's the name of those people who don't have windows in their churches?".
several guesses were thrown out including amish and mennonites but he shook his head.

Hell's Bell's! The Kingdom Hall I used to go had windows all around and skylights too! It was built to seat about 180 people. It was a garden level steps nightmare. Go in on one level and have to take about 10 steps up to the main hall or 8 steps down to the lower level...more windows there too. It was a nice hall but very impractical by todays standards. Now its a Sushi Bar!

How did you "expand" your Field Service time
by donny ini remember when a brother named donis and i used to go out in field service on the weekends we took advantage of our congregations large territory.
we each had about nine return visits and we would pick one on the southern end of the territory and afterwards drive to one in the northern part and then back again.
along the way we would throw in laundry mat to dump a lot of the magazines that were given to us by other brothers/sisters who needed room in their garage.

Start with a call in town. Then drive 100 miles or more to very rural Dakota territory. Spend the day in the territory. Then make a call in town again on the return trip.....easy 12-14 hour day.

i cant believe what i thought would happen actually happened..
by chellechelle inok so today i met my new psychiatrist.
my old one retired recently and i hadnt seen him in months anyways.. much to the delight of the "edlers"... but i will discuss that later.
i would not mind so much having to go if it werent for the fact that i have to reinterate everything important that ever fappened to me.. great, that is the way to make peoople feel better, bring up all the other horrible shit that happened to them in the past.

I am sorry to hear about your struggle. Someone said in this thread "don't need the meds now that I am out of the cult." I aggree with that to a point. I came out of the cult angry. Some meds to alleviate that anger may have preserved a few bridges I burned down and blew up! Anyway, fast forward 13 years later I am starting to have some big troubles. Go to my family practice Doc. She prescribes a brew that put me in drugged haze like no other I have known. I went back to assure her this was not working....she added a couple more pills to the recipe. In a week or two after that I was desperate and drugged. My wife bless her heart got me in to her shrink. The shrink takes me off most all of the previous recipe and checks my thyroid and testerone levels. Thyroid and gonads not working at all. Here the family practice doc about kills me off with psyc meds and the psyc doctor makes me well with what I needed for my physical illness! Don't give up. Just be patient if you don't die first!
