Has anyone seen "The Prodigal Son Returns" on JW.TV? A Masterpiece of indoctrination
by truthseeker ini'm watching the jw movie the prodigal son returns.. it is a masterpiece of indoctination and what i would call a "cult" classic.. it's about two brothers who work for their father's construction firm.
the older one is the most spiritual and the younger one isn't.
he befriends al, a weak brother, who persuades him to take a job in the city and move there.. it shows the "world" in the worst possible light.

It's probably set up by a Jehovah's Witness that gave it to the WT after her death. But yea, it's very tasteless they're profiting from it, since so many witnesses throughout the history have suffered, even giving up their lives, based on symbolic principles. -

JW Expressions We Hate
by Socrateswannabe ini was browsing through stuff on jw.org recently and ran across some expressions that really grate on my nerves: loyal love, loving-care, and loving-kindness, as in: "please exercise loving-kindness toward your servant.
" who talks like that?
they must be relics of the fred franz era.

I don't know why, but I just hate the word "circuit overseer", but in Swedish; "kretstillsyningsman". And how my mom always gets her panties in a bunch when the almighty "kretstillsyningsman" is coming to town. And they claim not to have any idols?
I also dislike the expression "meeting". "I'm going to a meeting" which sounds like they're working professionals, when it's actually just an indoctrination session. Why don't they say "I'm going to worship"? Why make it sound like something it's not?

Types attracted to the sect known as jehovahs witnesses.
by atomant inl have observed the types of people attracted to the sect are many times unbalanced, unstable, emotionally insecure types.the jdubs seem to home in like vulchers circling the prey ,preying on the vulnerables.they tried it on me when my father who was an elder died.promising that if you become a dub you will one day see him again.l said how can you promise that when you keep making false misleading predictions.l was wondering if others have observed this phenomenon.

Yup. My mom was, and still is, a very insecure and nervous person. We had been in contact with the witnesses for years, only because my brothers one classmate was a witness and they were good friends. His mom had been preying on my mom all this time but when my grand mom died, my moms mom, she let the teeth sink into my mom completely. My mom was desperate and that was the end of our childhood as we knew it. Bye, bye good things in life, hello insanity! -

I haven't followed all of the drama of what's happened, it seems like someone is trying to make a bird out of a feather. But I do really like Mike and Kim and I like their YouTube channel. I don't get the hate they're getting. I hope they know they still have people that are in their corner. I also like Cedars, he's very informative and he seems like a sweetheart. They should all just kiss and make up and remember they do fight for the same cause after all. :) -

When I hear the word "helper" I think of Santa Claus helpers up on the North Pole. Every time. -

by cappytan ina year to a year and a half ago, i would have taken this article at face value and believed it.. now, i realize this article comes from a dubious source.
world news daily has a die-hard right-wing bias.
so, in an effort to get real information, i'm asking my european exjw's, is this article all true?

My whole family lives in Stockholm, Sweden and they say it's getting crazy. My sisters 11 year old kids school gym is gonna be used as a shelter for refugees and they will also put up a tent camp. Refugees with children gets to go first in the Stockholms rental apartment waiting line, which people have to wait in line for 10-20 or more years before getting a rental contract. With annual fees.
People are getting pissed at the Swedish government but no one dares to speak up, if you do, others will call you a "racist". It's not that they don't understand these people need to get away from their horrible conditions but the Swedish government have no plans how to handle taking in basically a whole other country. The money for the costs of helping them has to come from somewhere and they can't live in school gyms and tents forever. They're not allowed to work either.
whats in the Swedish news right now is that refugees are refusing to get of the busses and having a sit down strike simply because they don't like where they were taken. They all want to live in bigger city's which is impossible, most of the swedes lives outside bigger city's too. So it comes over as very ungrateful and it's not the first time this is happening either so the word how to get your will through is obviously spreading.
But the biggest problem/threat is Isis seeping through with the refugees and things will start to blow up and people will get hurt and killed. I haven't heard yet of regular people getting guns to protect themselves and it's still just not that easy to get ahold of firearms unless you have criminal connections. Which the regular swede don't have, they're usually kind of standoff-ish, don't like confrontations and don't want to get involved (unless they're drinking, lol) That all might change though after some terror attacks.
Hate crimes like that Swedish nutcase with a sword that murdered two immigrants in a school will most likely get out of hand too. Basically, the future looks scary.
The economy will crash, people will get laid off without getting financial help, the ones still holding a job will have to pay much more in taxes. Everything that stood for the Swedish awesome quality of living will soon be just a fading memory. They're not used to have to pay for healthcare or to save up for retirement like in the states. And I personally can only blame the Swedish government, they're idiots. I've been homesick for the past 17 years and my plan have always been to go back home when my kids are both in college but now I honestly don't think it's gonna be that easy.
Ok, rant over...:)

When I was a kid we started to play with something we called "the spirit in the glass", very much like Ouija board here in the states. This was around the time my mom was new to the "truth" (lie) and when unexplainable things started to happen in our home she forced me to stop playing with this when she found out I did.
One morning I woke up and my bedcover was gone. It was weird because the sheet under was still there, tucked into the bed (was tucked into bed together with cover) and the top cover was also still there, nothing torn up or out of bed. I was confused and went up to go look for the cover and I found it on top of the freezer in the kitchen. I have never been sleep walking and if I did that night I must had tucked in the sheet back in the bed when asleep and placed the top cover over me. It just didn't make sense. My mom screamed at me that this is the works of demons and no, I never played this game again. That was creepy.
Anyhow, during one of these "games" we got contact with a girl who said her name was Anna something, she said that she got murdered in a shed with an axe and she wanted us to catch her murderer who she said the name of. It's just that it happened in the 1900 century so there wasn't much we could do, lol. Another time we were sitting in one of my friends room and the spirit said he didn't like Bob Marley and then suddenly her Bob Marley poster fell off her wall.
Back then I believed in all of this and was certain we did get contact with the other side. Today I have a harder time thinking outside the box and I just can't believe it was real.

Are the Governing Body broadcasts promoted at Kingdom Hall meetings?
by nicolaou ina question for those still attending i guess but are all these new jw.telemuppet.org broadcasts advertised to the the rank and file or is it more of a background thing?.
i'm wondering because i just can't believe my 70 year old die-hard jw mum would ever see them if she wasn't sat down in front of a screen and someone clicked 'play' for her.
i really want her to see the wizards behind the curtain.

My JW mom (in Europe) just saw her very first broadcasting (David Splanes generation word play trickery) in a special Kingdom Hall meeting. So they translated it into her language, I guess they just started doing that. Before that she had just heard about the "wonderful" JW broadcasting. And she thought it was good and from God, of course.
