It's the hope that he offers that makes Him worthy of awe
Wouldn't this by number 15?
15. Suffering will be unimportant compared to eternal rewards
yesterday evening my wife and i were invited to friends house for new year's eve.
we met them when i was a christian and we have kept in touch.
they had a few other friends there as well, including the new church pastor and his wife.

Just go down to a local childrens hospital then come back here and tell us all about how god is completely moral by not intervening.

@ theists,
Why not select the points from Cofty's excellent list that you are defending and defend them?
Most of the arguing in these type of threads revolve around getting someone to actually honestly answer a question. Cofty is doing well trying to keep the issues on topic - but if you are truly interested in honesty please just address the points you defend.

Good example, I forgot about that one.
I would say that it was not moral of jesus to do that. I get that he was trying to prove a point, but I think it's immoral to play with mortal beings as though they were toys.
What is your judgement on that?

Pelican, do you think god's choice of not intervening was a moral one?

What kind of stats/info were you interested in regarding the fox experiment? I'm doing some research on that at the moment.
has this been covered yet?.
i was looking to download the new nwt from jw.org and stumbled across an awake on creation - march 2014 edition.
and it always interests me to see the latest spins they'll try to make creation sound plausible.. seems now they are implying the sun, moon, and stars were created when god said "let there be light".
Good points. I haven't had a knock on my door for years, but when I saw that Awake, like you I hope that they knock on my door ready to explain how the world began to me...

You gave me "The Greatest Show on Earth" did you seriously think I wouldn't use his own words against him. Dawkins has armed cofty to preach Atheism, but is the pastor an uneducated chrchgoer that preaches evolution is incorrect? I think not.
I just finished reading the book - he doesn't mention god or atheism very often - he mentions 'history deniers' in the last chapter refering to people who don't accept evolution - which is pretty much purely because of religion. Other than that I would say it is pretty mild on the god bashing.
many scientists point to the fossil record as support for the idea that life emerged from a common origin.

would it be reasonable to assert that your preconceived idea of the movie was right because of the five frames?
“The faces of earlier human ancestors cannot be objectively constructed or tested.” He says that attempts to do so based on modern apes “are likely to be heavily biased, grossly inaccurate, and invalid.” His conclusion? “Any facial ‘reconstructions’ of earlier hominids are likely to be misleading.” 47
This is coming from the guys that brought you white, beardless jesus.
dear brothers.
after some struggling with trying to make the bible's account of creation square with the physical evidence presented by science i was so pleased to recieve the latest awake magazine (march 2014) via jw.org with it's lead article "the untold story of creation".. your detailed article provided vast amounts of credible and scientifically based evidence that counters even the most determined of evolutionists.
this article shall be an absolute blessing in the ministry and shall no doubt be instrumental in changing the minds of countless ones we meet.. the material is certainly new, detailed and clearly presents more than compeling evidence of as yet unknown arguments and evidence for creation that are irrefutable.
This article and the whole magazine actually really upsets me, how ignorant/arrongant and deceptive it is. They really don't think much of their readers do they.
The preceding "Watching the world" is all doom and gloom. The following article is "Money, the root of all evil?" with the last paragraph asking JW's to have a "generous spirit" and be "cheerful givers" (give more contributions)
Then finishing with some marriage advice basically stating that if your marriage sucks then tough titties, you made a vow so stick with it. A healthy amount of blame for not being happy in your marriage "You have become emotionally distant." Your expectations were unrealistic." And no mention of seeing an evil marriage counseller.
What a depressing load of rubbish. These guys make me sick.
