Spirituality without Faith- Is It Possible?
by nvrgnbk inspirituality without faith.
what would it mean to naturalize spirituality?
how can naturalism inspire spiritual experience and provide us with a satisfying cognitive context within which to address our ultimate concerns?

Open Mind:
I'm still clinging (just a little) to my spirituality doll.
I hope Terry and Narkissos, cut your little doll to pieces.
Rather than give you some more conceptual baggage to carry around, I suggest simply letting go of your doll. Let go of everything which can be let go of...and see what remains.
What witnesses experiences, be the they "spiritual" or other wise?
What beholds all the concepts and opinions in this and every other thread?
What quietly sees all the products of the mind, emotions and senses?
When the individual "me" that desires its cherished beliefs, judgments and appraisals to be heard and valued by others -- is seen as only a house of cards built of the beloved concepts, what sees that?
What is closer than all words, emotions, thoughts and experiences?
What am "I", genuinely, authentically and truly?
What is REAL?

Underground Lurker....Coming up for air.....
by Bourne ini have been a lurker for the last year...finally got the courage to post.
i guess you could say that i have successfully completed a "fade", although that was not my initial intent.
due to my being in an "unscriptural" separation for a number of months, (that, combined with my paranoia, hence, the alias) i have been forced to go underground.

Welcome, Bourne.
You have a kind and gentle way about you.
Rather than see the world as a frightening or evil place, see it as a hurting child that needs your understanding and compassion.
Glad you are here.

Fuel From a Garden Hose - Hydrogen Fuel
by BlackPearl inhas anyone here thought about the possibilities of getting all of our fuel needs from the unlimited supply of hydrogen in our water?
you see, there two parts hydrogen to every single part oxygen in h2o.
what that means is, if we can extract the hydrogen from the water, we can burn it as a fuel, just like propane or gasoline.

What people often forget to count is the material production and energy usage in producing and the raw material and finished products which take advantage of these forms of energy. Sometimes the materials which are specialized are petrochemicals, meaning basically it was produced by the oil industry. Plastics esters epoxies urethanes etc etc... It is much harder to brake ones dependence on "OIL" than one may think. What will you use for engine oil, electric wire insulation or numerous other petro products? I don't think the world except for the most diehard tree hugger is prepared for what you will have to give up.
Plastics can be made from canola oil. Actually making products -- other than fuels -- with petroleum, is not nearly as unhealthy as burning the crap. Indeed petroleum products degrade over time, but much can be recycled. It's not that big a problem. Perhaps if we opened our minds to healthier alternatives, rather than discrediting and discounting low pollution technology, we'd actually have a healthier place for our children to live. It's amazing that one has to actually argue this. j tree-hugger class

Are you kidding? What do you think water is? It is burned hydrogen. Also, water vapor is much more of a 'greenhouse gas' than CO2. Do you know what the CO2 percentage in the atmo is?
Just before you burn hydrogen or hydroxy (hydrogen/oxygen gas mix), you have separated the hydrogen and oxygen molecules from water. Upon burning hydrogen or hydroxy, the by product is water. No more than what you started with. What's the problem? Is carbon and sulfur emissions some how better? Of course CO2 would be generated if fossil fuel plants where being used to supply electricity for electrolysis. However, there are other pollution free means. Little wonder we are stuck in fossil-fuel consciousness with the fear and negativity exhibited by many people. Personally, I don't feel that hydrogen is the big wave of the future, so much as up coming developments in new high efficient solar and wind technologies to produce electricity, and new generations of fast charging super-capacitors as energy storage. It's not unlikely that in ten years we'll have exceptionally practical, pollution free, electric vehicles with range and speed better than gas powered cars. It would likely be sooner if there was more help from the government, but they are the epitome of foolish-fossil-fuel-consciousness. They are a dying breed. j

It's a fascinating subject.
If you go to the very top of the forum there, and click on the forum name, it takes you to a page that has many of the members listed along with pictures of there projects.
There is a fellow there named Bob Boyce, who is definitely one of the gurus of hydrogen generation. I suggest checking out all his past posts. There are other very knowledgeable folks there as well with some real experience under their belts.
Have fun, and be very careful as electrolysis will generally give you a hydroxy mix of hydrogen/oxygen which is extremely explosive stuff. You can start off with a very inexpensive small experimental unit and work your way up to a booster for a car, or whatever. It's all there.

Here is a good forum for do-it-yourself hydrogen generation. There are some very knowledgeable people there that will be happy to get you up to speed.

So non-creationist - what do you think of those who still accept creation?
by AK - Jeff inno firestorms please.
but be honest.
do you think that we are of a lower level of intelligence than those who accept evolutionist' theories?.

My feelings are that a heartfelt desire to pay reverence to a Source, is a natural and honorable thing.
However, when we use this desire to engrave a mental image (an invisible god) that divides us into the chosen and the damned, we have stepped from what is honorable, to what is harmful and insane.

meditation: your thoughts? :)
by DeusMauzzim inthe wtbts always has meditation as a topic on conventions.
they always state that eastern meditation makes the mind "blank", so this is a no no.. of course we know that it is actually the convention that makes the mind blank :).
so what are your thoughts on meditation now?.

No. Never. Not a chance. Highly unlikely. Well, maybe a little.
