no question about it ... there have been some stinkers.
here's e-online's list.
being raised a witness, my mother has asked me whether or not i held her responsible for her bringing me up in the way that she has.
i feel that my upbringing is something my mother can be proud about.
even though i do not believe in the "truth", i do feel that she did a good job of raising us.
Yep! Yep! Yep! and double Yep!!! Love 'em, Love 'em , Love 'em!!!!! Trying our darndest to do the same for ours!!!
i'm just wondering...... i remember going to some wedding receptions for couples who got married at the kingdom hall,.
and i hate to be mean but, super boring, and bad, how bad you ask ??
ok here we go ..... - the worst had to be one couple played kingdom meolodies for their wedding dances, i couldn't believe it.. - no alcohol (i'm sure we all experienced a few of these), reception was over by 9:30.. - no music at all, just a gathering of people, and they ended the reception with a prayer, i thought i was at an assembly.. - food, like if you can't afford to get married don't, like frozen stuff bought at your local grocery store, and still in the package when you got up to the tables, how tacky.. - you could always tell a couple who couldn't afford much, when you had to drive 50 miles into the back woods to find some dinky little community hall they rented for $100.. - i remember one where the bride was pregnant, i was really surprised they allowed them to use the kingdom hall.. - another classic was, they had this band (of all jw's of course) and man they were bad.
Nope, I wasn't. Wedding reception was "rockin"!!! Has been talked about for years!!!
good friends are quite rare.
they say that you can count the number of good friends you have on the fingers of one hand.. .
i was just wondering, do you have more "good friends" or enemies?
Five "true-to-the-core;-till- death-do-us-part" friends. Everyone else falls under the nebulous category of background noise and/or window dressing.
i was never baptized, but boy did i feel the pressure ....... what are you waiting for ???
don't you love jehovah ???
(i was in my late teens and brought up in the borg)
EXTREME PRESSURE!!!
I was a young teenager when I got "dunked" and was told that I was going to get "zapped" if I didn't. So many of us "took the bath" at the same time (circa 1975) that it almost looked like a pool party!!!
.
what is your favorite music video?
after shes my cherry pie, i like foo fighters learn to fly
Mercury Rev "The Dark is Rising"
Also agree with DakotaRed... The Cars "Drive" (the message in the song is touching and sobering)
i think for me, it is if someone doesn't believe that what i say is sincere or honest.
i find that insulting.
what about you??
Know what Mini..?
I struggled, grew up, married and we became among the "elite" (Elder, elder's wife, model kid...you know the spiel). Our family is an "example" (tee hee). However, whenever we gave get togethers, we made it a point not to invite the prominent ones. This really throws people off their tracks. I am tired. At this point in our lives, we've just about had enough. You could call the P.O, the D.O., the B.O., and Heigh Ho the Merry Oh right about now and I would probably say "I give up!!! I'm holding out because of the love I have for my spouse and immediate family. Thanks to all on this forum for their quiet support.

Ooh...this brought back memories...
This happened years ago, when I was a youngster... (You have to remember how impressionable kids are)
Went to the KH one Sunday. After the meeting one sister stood in the back with a stack of invitations to a barbecue (or some shindig) she was having at her house. As she passed certain ones, she would whisper in their ear and quietly slip them an invitation. Oh, how I wished that she would whisper in my mother's ear and slip her one of those prized invites!!! As I stood watching, (I was about 7 at the time), she looked straight into my mother's eyes, walked past her and moved on to the next lucky person. I watched as almost EVERYONE got an invitation except for us. Not receiving an invitation was bad; but adding insult to injury was the fact that she thought we didn't notice that she intentionally overlooked us. The next week we had to live through everyone hugging and recapping what a "fine time they had"!!!. I'm a tough old bird; but every now and then I think back, my eyes get moist and the memory still "stings" a little. That's why I'm nice to every damn kid I know and I'm teaching mine to do the same; because I remember!!! (Gosh y'all...getting this repressed memory off my chest is better than therapy)
ok, so here's the idea, for anyone who doesn't know... .
the first person makes a (supposedly) undeniable statement.
the next poster has to somehow prove him wrong, and make a statement of their own.. .
You are wrong!
5CM=E (5 Congregation Meetings =Exhaustion)
Now following is an absolute truth:
An ice cold beer would sure be good right about now!!!!
