There was a new peak of 1,178,349 publishers in United States (minus Hawaii) in the month of August. That is 24,074, or 2.1%, more than in August 2009.

Anyone got the December KM yet for UK
by alanv inas it is the end of the jw service year, it would be nice to see how they finished up in august 2010 as regards total publishers.. quite often there seems to be a big push to get as many as possable to put in a service report to finish the year off.. so a scan would be good or just a report on how many publishers they ended up with.
thanks.

JW references in movies
by stichione ini watched the movie "mickey blue eyes" last night on tv, staring hugh grant.
at one point there is a knock at the door and mickey, looking through the peep hole, anounces "its the jehovah bloody witnesses".
there was more insitent knocking and the female occupant replies "they must be really devoted!".

DVD "JW's Faith In Action, part 1 Out of Darkness" Omits! Omits! Omits!
by Wasanelder Once ini've been watching the new dvd and it is a bull fest about russell.
i haven't even gotten half way and they already excluded one very important bit of information.
you'll recall that russell "lost" his faith and "turning away from church creeds and searching for truth, russell examined some leading oriental religions, only to find these unsatisfying".

Witnesses 2nd largest Christian group in Mexico?
by betterdaze in(translated from http://www.elmundodetehuacan.com/index.php?command=show_news&news_id=122176).
there god for all.
catholics in mexico have 'leadership' of faith, but they are not alone, across the country are competing beliefs, which, briefly, is always a god.

According to the most recent Mexican Census (it asks people what religion they belong to, if any) more than 1 million people responded to be JWs. It makes them the 2nd largest religious group.

I have heard people talking about it and I have tried it myself. You spend more time looking for the 'right' person to talk than actually chatting. Adults should be the only ones using it since the owner does not have the resources to moderate the site.
I work for a major social networking site and we know all about chatroullete. There are already established websites playing with the concept.

JWs percentage of Whites (the group with the highest Income), excluding Hispanics, is less than 50%. JWs are more racially diverse than any other. So let's think. If America were to be as diverse as JWS are, would JWs still rank as 'noticeably poor'? So given the JW demographics, they do pretty good.
Hasn't it pretty much been discussed JWs are mostly middle class?
And Elsewhere, that survey is based on less than 300 people who claimed to be Witnesses in all 50 States. Think about it. That averages less than 6 people per State. Not so much of a great study, eh?

-NCC 2010 Report: An Actual Increase in US Church Membership including JWs due to an influx of ...
by AndersonsInfo ini've been away so i don't know if this report has been posted on jwn recently.
however, i just want to mention that i recently heard from a credible source (circuit overseer) that the main increase of jws in the united states is among the spanish.
this fits with what this report suggests about the increase in us church membership is mostly due to an influx of immigrants.

In the past 3 years, they have added 1 English and 1 Spanish Convention to Long Beach, CA. That brings it to 7 English and 7 Spanish for a total of 14. They have the Convention Center booked almost every weekend during the summer.
For anyone who has been to the assemblies in Long Beach during the last 10 years know there has been growth. Does anyone remember when there were only 4 in English? (and now there is 7).

China: The number of publishers has increased. In some parts of the mainland, they can openly go door to door without much interference. There are actally buildings now used as Kingdom Halls. Reports of interested persons going back to China from California and the rest of the world and continuing to study there.
Egypt: Witnesses are now able to meet in larger groups. Preaching to muslims is still illegal.
Malawi: The first Asian publisher to be baptised in the country happened this year.
Cyprus: Woman became a Witness not too long ago. Her husband, a Muslim, and opposed to her beliefs, made arrangements for her to return to Iran to be killed by their family for converting. After learning, the Elders quickly got in touch with headquarters for help. Her flight was less than a week away. Through the European Court of Human Rights, Cyprus authorities confined her for six months before addressing her appeal. The court ruled in her favor and she was released from her husband's authority. During her confinement, she was able to preach to over 200 persons.
