It's not the first time they report a country of having a greater number of average publishers than the number of peak publishers. There have been similar accounts from 1970s-1990s annual reports
I do wonder, however, if there would still be 7,782,346 total peak publishers worldwide if they were to 'correct' the 69,795 figure.
i am surprised i have not noticed this before, particularly since this is one of the most important statistics, and so have just added the new graphs to watchtower publisher statistics.. the number of bible studies generally trends roughly with the number of publishers on a one to one basis.
however, the number of baptisms has not been rising.
this has resulted in a rapidly falling conversion rate.
It could be explained that JWs have been counting revisits as studies, whereas 10 years ago they didn't.
If you visit a person 3 times and you spend 15 minutes with them each time, then you are giving a bible study without the person realizing and you could count it as one Study.
That's how the congregation I attended counted for studies.

The program officially started in Manhattan, an area where it is difficult to go door to door because of high security buildings and finding people at home.

I work in Downtown Los Angeles and I started seeing them here with their displays about 4 months ago. Sometimes there are two JWs there. Sometimes I see four or even five. The intersectation where they set up has a lot of foot traffic and it seems like they don't have a hard time getting people to approach them.
on their website, the soc explains why they are halving the size of the public wt and awake!

The number of printed copies did not really stay the same. They only update the number printed once a year-- and always on January 1st issue.
if i told you that something bigger is on the horizon than dateline, bbc, cbc, sunday (australia), and all other tv programs which exposed the sexual child abuse cover-up by watchtower in 2002-2003, would you believe me?

the year 1925 got off to a good enough start, with the french watch tower magazine being enlarged from 12 to 16 pages.
-yearbook 1980 page 61.. 88 years later... .
2013 will get off to a good start with french wt rag being reduced from 32 to only 16 pages... .

joker10 started a thread some days ago - putatively just to "inform" us - about the growth of self-identifying jehovahs witnesses in brazil across two census periods, the year 2000 to the year 2010. this led to some enlivened discussion about growth rates, including in particular how this compared with other similar 'vintage' 'christianized' religions such as the mormons (latter-day saints of the church of jesus christ) and seventh-day adventists (sdas).
joker10 readily obliged by posting within the same day the relevant growth rates for the latter-day saints in brazil over the same census periods.
the jw growth rate easily outstripped those for the latter-day saints.
Adventists do alot better in Africa and in southeast Asia. No doubt that people are attacted to their schools, hospitals and charities.
...steve2, it is interesting to know that JWs have better growth and higher literacy rates in Mexico than SDAs:
