Well Ive always like analying numbers. Always have. Just interesting figures in general... So when somebody takes one figure and compares it to a similar one and think that's all there is and end of story, I just roll my eyes.

26% drop in auxiliary pioneers in "special month" between 2011 and 2012
by sir82 ini don't recall seeing this posted on this board before, my apologies if the topic is duplicated..... in april 2011 and march 2012, the gb made a "loving provision" to allow jws to sign up for the auxiliary pioneer work with only a 30 hour requirement instead of the usual 50 hours.. in 2011, in the usa, about 500,000 signed up to be auxiliary pioneers.. in 2012, per the august 2012 km, only about 370,000 signed up.. that's a 26% drop in just 1 year!.
granted, in many parts of the us, the march weather is far worse than april's.
but on the other hand, there were 5 saturdays in march 2012 - you could get your "time in" with 5 long saturdays and nothing else.. .

Once every few years, the Society makes a push to get everyone to participate as much in field service in a BIG way.
Who doesn't remember August 1996 when the US branch was hoping for ONE MILLION publishers to preach during that month (for the first time), and elders were able to get 1,040,000 to participate (KM's "One Million!" article)? It was huge. Or what about in April 2000 with KM's article " "Can We Make April 2000 Our Best Month Ever?", and new peaks of pioneers and, for the first time, over 20 million hours was reached in the US (21 to be exact)?
There are always new peaks of activity when the Society waits every few years for a big preaching campaign. It's less special when its done every 12 months.
For those who say that they are still declining by this and this much without really analyzing past campaigns, keep in mind that so far, regular pioneers are up something like 4% from last year, the number the WT cares about the most. -

It was expected. Everyone knew it would not exceed last years figures! You cannot ask everyone to give up some vacation time every 12 months.
So the turnout this year was pretty good. Revisits and studies continue to go up every month, by average. -

What i posted before...
There no reports that came in from Afghanistan, North Korea or Somalia during the last service year.
There are very few publishers in Muslim-majority countries. The 2,600 publishers in North Africa are mostly concentrated in Egypt, Djibouti and Eritrea. Publishers who work abroad and college students make up a considerable percentage of all publishers in the 'other' African countries. Growth is slow in this part of the continent because of restriction on religion. Last year growth was only 1%, although it has been higher in the past. Elders are very careful here not to just baptize anyone, waiting for at least one year, sometimes two or even more.
In Egypt, JWs are now able to gather in larger groups. Things seemed to be going very good. JWs sometimes do street work with little interference. But with the new political climate, it is now uncertain if there will be any additional progress. There is a sizable group of JWs in Jordan and Syria, and smaller groups in Iran and Iraq. Most of the other Arab nations have a far less number of publishers. The 23,600 publishers in the other countries in Asia are mostly found in the former Soviet republics of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan, and in the southeastern countries. There are a couple of thousand publishers in Vietnam and Laos with over 60 congregations and growing in double digits (%) each year. JWs conduct many Bible studies there. Things are only getting better as the countries are getting more tolerant.
It is really tough for JWs to break into China, but they are doing it thanks to publishers who are returning to the country. The number of Chinese Witnesses is growing fast, numbering 4,000 in the U.S alone. Excluding Hong Kong and South Korea, there would still be over 500 congregations and groups in the rest of the world. Chinese Witnesses are putting effort to preach to their relatives that are back home. Thanks to the success that has been taking place, there are now publishers spread out in many parts of China. In the northeastern part, there are some buildings that serve as Kingdom Halls.
JWs grew in Asia by 14% last year and have an average of 1.7 Bible studies per publisher.

It is difficult to know how many people us ASL to communicate, but the estimates are between 500,000- 2.5 million. If we were to say there are 2.5 million who speak Sign Language, that is still 1 publisher per 139 people; it has become 3rd most used language by Witnesses. The number of ASL congregations now stand at 190. There are dozens of other ASL groups across the country. -

2011 Watchtower publisher statistics with analysis
by jwfacts inthe 2012 yearbook has released the publisher statistics for the 2011 service year.
a scan of the report can be found at http://www.jwfacts.com/images/2011-publisher-report.pdf and i have started updating the graphs at http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/statistics.php.
as expected, it is following on from similar trends to the last 15 years.

JW Facts, it is difficult to straight out belive your analysis.
You don't mention that JWs had one of the highest retention rates they've had in a long time. Some 18,000 of 7.6 million dropped out but a good number could have simply become inactive.
And South Korea, the most wired country in the world, has yet to experience zero or negative increase in publishers. You don't make mention of it in any of your statistical 'analysis' here, or on your site.
Although you can say it required 6,488 hours for a single baptism, you also omit how JWs usually preach in pairs. So that alone cuts the amount of time an interested person actually studies or listens to JWs in half. And what about the amount of time it is spend just walking to reach Not-at-homes?
"The United States claims 3% growth. This is rounded up and the actual figure is 2.68%. However, the Watchtower report has adjusted the population of the US and the ratio of "JWs to the US population" actually fell from 1:259 last year to 1:261 this year."
The population of the United States could not have increased that much in 12 months. The new number most likely reflects the 2010 census, a number that they did not have last year.
You want people to respect your analysis? Give credit and stop sensationalizing.

JW Manhattan Project
by Red Piller ini received this and am passing it on email.
(nyc) area by jehovah's witnesses.
god in this project, too.. .

Before this project was annnouced, some JWs were already getting the attention of passerby in NYC, setting up tables. This is nothing new. However, this is the first time the Branch has organized this form of preaching.
Each month, JWs in these stations have set up tables with displays advertising a selected article from one of the magazines. Each month they they change the attractive colorful display. The displays also let people know they have publications in many languages, something that has gotten the attention of many, NYC being an international city.
JWs have set up stations in four locations to start out. One of the locations is Columbus Circle. So far, 100 Pioneers who have participated in this project have placed 1,200 books and have started 120 Bible Studies. Interested people from different religious backgrounds have approached them asking for literature in their language.

NEW RUMOR: WT ALLOWS BIRTHDAYS
by J.R.R.Watchtower ini've just read at a spanish forum for ex-jw that the wt has cooked a new light article series about social celebrations, including birthdays and aniversaries.
according to a member of this forum 'in short' the wt will let witnesses to decide by 'their bible trained conscience' either they celebrate birthdays or not.
is this rumor based in some real facts or it's just bullshit?.
-
Joker10
JRR, exactly where did you read this from?
If you are refering to the posting on extj.com, the poster on that site does not have anything to back up his claim. Whats more, he does not mention a source. All he says is that oversears are getting the talk (about wedding anniversaries and birthdays being a conscience matter) during their stay in Bible School, and eventually leting the new light out--thats if the brothers take it well, as a test.
Birthday rumors are not new, and frankly I think he is just starting one.

No mention in KMs of any increase in pubs. in U.S. for half of service year
by Gayle ini notice, on another ex-jw site, for their "field service highlights" for the u.s. (not counting turks island) , it doesn't mention any increase in 'publishers' for half of the service year, sept. '10- february '11 (6 mos).
makes me assume there hasn't been any or much, otherwise they would have tooted their horn about it.
however, there has been quite an increase in pios.

The May 2011 KM does make mention that "when compared with the same month last year [December 2010], the United States saw increases of 2.7 percent in total publishers, 6.8 percent in regular pioneers, and 4.5 percent in auxiliary pioneers".
There were 1,115,786 average publishers in 2010. Assuming 2.7 is the actual percent increase so far (may not be, but the best number we have) there will be 1,145,912 average publishers in this service year. That is an additional 30,126 publishers.
