I may regret it but I am benching Palmer this week and pulling out big Ben Rothlisberger for Week 3. Pittsburgh is facing San Fran in Pittsburgh whereas Cinci is in Seattle. We'll see what happens.

In the same way he quit his job to protect his investment and reputation of the company, he quit as an elder and 'left' the Org to protect its reputation.
Such warped thinking, it is okay to get sexually involved with a minor but he tries to be noble to protect a cult's reputation. That's screwed up!

I believe most of your comments are bang on.
It is their own boredom. It is their attempt to denigrate others in order to feel better about themselves. The other component is that it allows them to reinforce their own belief (doubts) that they have God's unique blessing. It is easier for them to digest that when you leave it you become the devil's spawn (returning to your own vomit').
If they admit you can leave, still be a good person and enjoy life, it causes too many holes to appear in their belief system. It is far easier to mentally accept an evil rumour than accept your beliefs are wrong.
I suppose I have big enough shoulders to accept being called a 'fornicator' if it means people can continue to live in the cult induced utopian fantasy. But frankly, I don't really care what they think anymore. I am far happy living in the real world than I ever was during my 30 years living the Witness fantasy/lie.

I attended a Dub funeral about 5 years ago. One of the cong gossips came up to me asked if I was DF'd I told her no. Which is true really. I've never been before a committee and to my knowledge no announcement has ever been made.
So that put her at ease and started sharing all the things she had heard about me. She heard I had fathered 3 children from 2 different women, that I was gay and was now forming my own Church. The coffee must have already kicked in, I responded,
"Yeah its a new Church, It's called the Most Holy Homosexual with bastard children Reformed Christian Church."
She stopped, dropped her jaw and then started laughing. "Yeah I never believed a word of it, Uzzah. I certainly would have never said such things." She then walked away.
Ya gotta appreciate all that Christian love from 'true believers.'

What kinds of fading techniques have you used?
by ldrnomo insome of you may have seen my post in jedi masters topic but if you haven't i will re-post it here:.
i'm new to the site, my wife and i are are doing the fade we still have a son and daughter-in-law who are still in so we don't want to get hung.
i was an elder for 25 years and was removed because i didn't agree with the gb on an important issue and spoke privately and with trust to another elder who broke that trust and told the other elders and co about my disagreement.

I planned to leave after the last Sunday meeting in August 1998. Something poetic about messing up the next Service Year's figures.
In July I started telling people I was moving. The Congregation bookstudy even had a farewell party for me (if that isn't irony...). I gave the Secretary of the Cong the address of the new P.O. of my congregation. The address given was actually a family member who was supporting my departure. I said my good byes at that meeting and walked away.
So my old congregation sent my Publisher Record cards and letter of introduction to "my new hall." I still have the letter and Record Cards as a little trophey of my victory over the Borg.
Since they no longer had responsibility for me there was no follow up. Even when it was found out that I was involved in anti-Society Child Abuse activism and testifying in court, they were polling CO's across the Province and I heard from one JW in the States (where I had allegedly moved) that the CO's there were trying find out what congregation I was associated with in order for them to form a Judicial Committee. Since I wasn't part of any Hall, no-one really had the authority to form a committee.
So I am not DF'ed or DA'd albeit am treated as such, I left on my terms and was able to snub my nose at the alleged authority of the Borg.

Traditionally the art dept uses Bethelites, friends or family of bethelites or 'well-reported upon' youth and families.
I personally never made the cover but...
I was on the back page of the Awake in the early to mid 90's. An artist's rendering of me and my full name was used. It was highly unusual at the time since they rarely if ever used names (preferring to use initials only) even when relating experiences. I guess they figured 10 years of Bethel service/an elder he's okay. 4 years later I disappeared from the ranks of the JW's. (yay me!)
At the time it was the closest thing I ever thought I would be to being famous. That experience was related at every Canadian District and Circuit assembly for at least a year after it came out. In the highly competitive world of Bethel guys, the attention the article received pissed off a lot of those more senior to me at the big house.
Despite the not so flattering artist's rendering, I received over 40 letters from sisters around the world wanting to know if I was single and available. We admire those who cultivate the spirit of singleness for Jehovah but as a dedicated sister I can't help but be attracted to someone who is so obviously devoted to Jehovah with such a kind heart..." Sad eh? It is a statement of the desperation some of the JW women feel.
Too bad I was still such a loyal Dub, I could have done well for myself
