my highlight was how everyone was told to not post the information on the internet because you will spoil the surprise for the brothers and sisters who weren't invited and its grey

My highlights from the AGM
by Apognophos insome of this will not be new to those of you who read other people's notes, but i bet there are a few new bits for you here, so i've provided a user-friendly table of contents, as an homage to the contents that appear before each book of the bible in the new nwt.
i might remember more highlights later, as i'm rather tired right now, but this is what i can recall off the top of my head.. contents (use of quote marks in this section is facetious; these are not actual quotes).
"say, did you notice that 2014 is the 100th anniversary, people?".

Julia i was assuming due to the way the speaker announced that cursing wasn't a swear word 'a profanity'. I know one shouldn't assume but i found it interesting that they felt obliged to mention this in the talk. While i am assuming i still think they may go this way with their new interpretation "If someone sins because he has failed to testify after receiving notice to testify as a witness regarding what he has observed or learned, he is to be held responsible." And I assumed because it is an american religion the cursing meant swearing.
I was quoting the GB member who gave the talk in regards to the quote "its not about profanity'
Profanity (also called bad language, strong language, foul language, swearing or cursing) is a subset of a language's lexicon that is considered [by whom?] to be strongly impolite or offensive. It can show a desecration or debasement of someone or something, or show strong or intense emotion. Profanity can take the form of words, expressions, gestures (such as flipping the middle finger), or other social behaviours that are construed or interpreted as insulting, rude, vulgar, obscene, obnoxious, foul, desecrating, or other forms. [ 1 ]
konceptual99 in australia cursing has a completely different meaning. It means cursing someone like wishing them bad luck or some kind of voodoo or spell put on a person.
To me it just confirms this religion is completely made in the US of A

David Splain "Using delightful words and accurate words of truth." presented his talk at the AGM
They have revised the interpretation of leviticus 5:1
leviticus 5:1 OLD NWT "now in the case that a soul sins in that he has heard public cursing...blah blah.."
"The thought in Leviticus 5:1 is not about profanity"
I have checked the bible in living english and it uses the word imprecation which means
imprecation - a slanderous accusation
accusal, accusation - a formal charge of wrongdoing brought against a person; the act of imputing blame or guilt
I also checked other translations
International Standard Version
"If someone sins because he has failed to testify after receiving notice to testify as a witness regarding what he has observed or learned, he is to be held responsible."Could they use this scripture to use against family members and associates to speak up in regard to suspected apostates?
He goes on ..
"The original NWT is a masterful, wonderful translation. We should use it for reference. For our meetings, service and study, we should use the revised.
Words change over time.

What level of IQ does one have, to beleive " TRUTH " changes. ? or old "Light " old truths " New Light " new truths " ?
by smiddy inokay, i never went to university , or had a college education, though i`m damn sure that "truth" is "truth" and it never changes.. if you" beleived "something was the truth in the past and now found out it was not correct , you cant say it was an" old " truth ,it must have been wrong/false reasoning in the first place......so it was never really the truth.. sure you can be aware of a "new" truth something you never knew beforehand , though whether you knew it or not ,it has always been a truth.
example:the earth was the centre of the universe ,beleived as a truth.........that beleif was false , it was not an old truth.. if their was something you beleived before as true and you now find it wasnt true , then it was false / untrue .. their is no such thing as an "old truth " and a "new truth" that is apparently accepted by jehovahs witnesses .. if jehovahs witnesses were as honest as they profess , then they would acknowledge when they make adjustments to their beleifs/doctrines that they were wrong in their initial understanding of said scriptures instead of passing it off as old truths or new light.. i was a witness for 33 years before it became obvious something was just not right with this religion and it took another 10-12 years before i found this site , that set me free.
so i ask , is it an iq level ?

Ok according to the society Jehobah loves people with low IQ's. I was reading Drjohnchrists reddit post regarding the AGM and came across this gem
"Clear, common, readily used expressions are better than "intelligencia". Jehovah's not impressed with big words."
Inspired words of the infamous Anthony Morris III
He also advised the R&F " everybody who might study a little Hebrew or Greek or Aramaic "not a translator".
So there we have it!!!.
'A translator must consider that the bible was written using the common everyday language of ordinary people. Not the educated."

What am I going to wear to the AGM?
by sherrie11 inthis is what some spiritual women in the troof and that have been honoured with an invitation to the historic agm will be thinking.. i am going to admit one of the reasons i enjoyed the meetings was getting to dress up.
how many women out there found the meetings an excuse to dress up.
how often did you shop or co ordinate outfits so you looked great every meeting.. .

I didnt know what designer clothes were before I joined the cult.
I also didnt realise being popular boils down to how you look in that organization

Individual Governing Body Members and Lawsuits
by jw07 ini don't know if this has any legal implications:.
since the identities of the individual members of the governing body have been publicly confirmed (not that we didn't know that before) can that open the way for direct lawsuits to be leveled against members?.
for instance are there any laws in the usa that would open the way for geoffrey jackson to be targetted by the lawsuits from child abuse or no blood transfusion deaths?.

David Miscavige the head of the Scientology is currently staring down the barrel of a civil lawsuit. he is the spiritual leader of scientologists. he is currently trying to get out of being subpoenad to a case against scientology and harressment. They dont call people names like evil apostate they track them down and make their life physically difficult.
the case is about how the spiritual head does have a lot to say in the entire running of the org.
This could be a benchmark and then perhaps the FDS GB Magnificent 8 have a lot of explaining

I don't think IQ has anything to do with knowing truth from lie. As you mention in your post Galliano discovered that the earth was not the centre of the universe. Yes prior to his discovery this was believed as truth, fact, but galliano's truth became fact. Never was the previous teaching labelled as a lie . but nor was it announced as newlight!
Only the WTBTS coin the saying old truth and new truth. They play with words and blur fact from fiction... lie from truth. they are conditioned to believe lying doesnt exist in their doctrine.
You dont need a high IQ to differiente between fact and fiction, lies and truth, unless of course your blinded by the cunning wording the society uses to dumb their masses.
