my friends and daughters say that i am more relaxed and i seem happier in my own skin.
which is just great, but when i first started reading stuff here i was a quivering mess, i was in shock, but spending more time researching things are now slotting into place.. .
Even though I've been DF'd for almost 20 years now, up until I found this forum I would view every bad thing in the news as a "sign" that Armaggedon was coming. About 7 years ago, I even stopped watching the news for a while because it scared me. (It didn't help that my husband was in a submarine and talk of war was rampant.) I am still disturbed by all the bad things in the world, but I no longer believe that Armaggedon is right around the corner.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Please don't feel as if God is punishing you. I don't believe he is the "vengeful" God that the JW's lead you to believe.

Yep, I'm talking about the KH on 21st Street. Irvington, Arlington Heights and at some point Eastgate. I remember the Kleine's, but not the other two. The biggest family in the Eastgate Cong. were the Deerburg's. Half the cong. was inter-related to them.
I'm almost 40, so this would have been in the 70's.

Grew up on the east side of town, out towards Washington Square Mall. Went to Warren Central High School. Attended Irvington before it split off to become "Arlington Heights". Got DF'd from the Eastgate congregation. Haven't lived in Indy for almost 15 years now, but miss it every day.

I know there are some of you out there from Indiana (US). Did you know that Indiana is the home of the People's Temple? The Jim Jones cult. In fact, he started out in a little town called Lynn, Indiana which is only a few miles from my mother's home town. When I was a teenager, I remember my mother pointing out a building in downtown Indianapolis that was the first "church" of Jim Jones and his followers. That event in the 70's still weighs heavily on my mind and was the turning point in which I started thinking that I was perhaps involved in cult.
There are a lot of "notorious" people from Indiana that I can think of off the top of my head: Dillenger, Michael Jackson, Axl Rose, Bobby Knight......
