I communicate with most of my family/friends via e-mail. I canNOT get my mother to even get a free e-mail account through Yahoo! She can use the library computers for free and I even went as far to set her up an e-mail address. She says "the society doesn't like us using the internet" and leaves it at that.

Jehovahs Witness and the internet
by Dragonlady76 ini was reading another thread of the high # of defections within the org, and this lead me to question:.
when and if, do you think the org will totally ban jw's use of the internet?.
i think it will happen, they are starting to see a big drop and need to curtail it some how, and they know that many surf the web and come across sites like this, and once people discover all the coverups and the "new light" stuff and personal stories, their are going to be questions that lead to being df'd or da's.

I hear ya! I've seen that Mustang commercial like 4 times now. It was 'vaguely' funny the first time.
I'm still pissed that the Patriots beat the Colts! I'm distantly interested that perhaps the Eagles will win.........

I'm about two hours from Fort Wayne. Mrsjones, Fishers is probably only two hours from Fort Wayne as well. My best friend lives in Fortville, IN and I can get to her house in 4 hours.
Country Girl has been talking about possibly flying to Michigan to meet up with some of the Michigan folks. She's from Texas. It would be fun to plan it far enough out so she can possibly be included!

I heard about this on the local news this morning and I thought I was HEARING things. I can't believe this is legal, but I guess it is.
I agree 100% with Country Girl. I am a smoker, but I don't attempt to smoke anywhere that it's not welcome. My company and it's drug test policies tell me I can't smoke pot, but that's illegal. I don't agree with it, but I have to have a job. There's no WAY a company would tell me I couldn't do something that was perfectly legal, regardless of how bad it is for you.
Funny thing is, this Weyco company used to be my company's Third Party Administrator for insurance. Basically, without going into a long explanation, they were our health insurance company. They were a horrible company to deal with and we dropped them.
My $.02.

Not violent, but GROSS! I remember going out in service with my cousin and this little kid sh*t on the porch right in front of us. He was WAY too old to be doing this sort of thing as I recall. The kid was probably around 6 or so. I remember he just grinned at us while doing it.
That was probably at least 25 years ago and it still sticks out in my mind as one of the reasons I HATED going out in service.

just curious, whats wrong with the smurfs?
by embeth2525 inwas reading the older posts and noticed a christmas display with smurfs, why don't jw's like smurfs?
i guess i wasn't informed about that one.

Hey, I've got an idea! Anyone out there with a Smurf doll should put it up for auction on E-bay. Claim that this was THE Smurf that got up and walked out of the Kingdom Hall!
I mean, if someone can sell a cane that's supposedly attached to a ghost, I guess you can sell just about anything!

Crisis Of Conscience - What Did The Society Say?
by dh ini remember reading somewhere online that the society have banned jw's from reading ray franz book; crisis of conscience.
i wondered what the details of this were, have they actually named the book in any of their publications?
or spoken publicly against it?

So far, I am pretty interested. What REALLY interested me is the "trials" in Connersville, Indiana which resulted in a 'blitzkreig' (in Ray's own words) on the town. My grandmother lived in Connersville at the time and I have to say I'm almost 100% sure this is when she became a JW. Or at least became 'interested'. Connersville, Indiana for God's Sake! You have no idea how small this town is until you've actually been there. Interestingly enough, Jim Jones (of the famous Guyana Kool-aid massacre) was from Lynn, Indiana, which is not more than 10 or 15 miles from Connersville.
Weird. I had no idea.
