Recordings of UK or US assemblies

i had a phone call with one of the elders who advised i attend the assembly at the weekend.

i have plans (and a life) but i said i'd go there on the weekend as i can't take short notice time from my studie and work.

does anyone have a link to the assembly or transcript that i could look through?.

Reading back my above comment it occurred to me that the Bible could perhaps be described as a Middle Eastern Lord of the Rings with Jesus as it's Gollum/Smeagol character.

@JW gone bad - I agree with your list in that 1 and 2 are one and the same in most JW's minds. Also I'd change 4 to "a dull yet inexplicably popular collection of old mystical writings" and 5 to "the most interesting fictional character from the second part of said book"

JW's just called at my door, simply handed me the JW.ORG tract and left! JW's now mere leaflet distributors.

i'm off work today and its a monday morning.

a male and female jw just knocked on my door, i opened it, the guy just handed me their latest website promoting tract saying "hi, were just leaving these with people today", and then he made to leave.

i looked at the tract and then looked at him as he was turning to walk away and said to him "ok, thanks, but ummm you could've just left it in my letterbox.".

I'd have pointed to the notice on my front door stating, among other things, "no cold callers, no leaflets, no religious cranks", hand back their silly little tract and (as I did last time they were arrogant/stupid enough to knock on my door) tell them to "Get the f*** off my property"

Weird crazy rules imposed by your local Elders.

we all know the sort of thing..... in many congregations, specific "rules" creep in...introduced by the local elders that become set in stone.. years ago, i heard of a congregation that sat down during the first song of the evening but stood for all others (the co changed that very soon after).

then there were the older accounts of congs that had rules to make the public speakers wear only white shirts.... in one cong now, i heard that brothers can only be used for sound or microphones if they do a minimum of 5 hours per month in the ministry!.

another cong has ruled that all appointed men must pioneer for at least one month each year in order to remain qualified.. .

step by step, the chinese seem to be building a complete alternative financial system - independent of anglo-america.

this includes their own version of the imf and their own credit rating agency (which just downgraded the debt of the us).. meanwhile, the world obsesses with putin - which has all the appearance of the western world 'being played' by a "good cop, bad cop" routine.
