I remember a story about demons on the ceiling while a couple lay frozen in their beds unable to move due to the demons power. I still think about it when I can't sleep and find myself staring at the ceiling.

where have the demons gone?
by aboveusonlysky indoes anybody remember some of the sensational demon stories jw's would tell back in the day?
i was a kid in the early 80's and i remember a few times hearing of people having real life encounters with demons.
for example, one sister claimed that before she became a jdub she would regularly talk to demons and they would even fix stuff like her washing machine!

Happiness and Freedom On A Paradise Earth?
by Disassociated Lady 2 inat a recent meeting there was a watchtower article about life in paradise.
they were saying that even when witnesses finally get there they will still be under the strict instructions from the elders and gb.
they may be given jobs that they will find unpleasant, also the preaching work will be ongoing because of all the resurrected people who need to learn about why they are given another chance.

Isn't it going to take 1000 years for the 8 million witnesses to take care of the 8 billion killed at Armageddon? That's 1000 dead people per one witness. The whole earth is going to stink!

Are you sad or angry?
by raven inafter exiting the org, i mean cult, how have each of you felt personally about the lies you had been taught, the hurt from feeling betrayed by these people, actual hopes of once believed false teachings, rose colored lenses of seemingly just and right doctrines that turned out to be a bunch of horse $#!+, the shunning of family and friends?
right now i am going through the motions, i've just moved to a new home, which means hopefully no more elders searching for me at my previous address.. i can't help but feel sad though right now because of the fact that although i am not df'd ( maybe the elders will do it in absentia assuming i've been avoiding them and the 2 jc's they've invited me to as well as the last handwritten letter at my door before i moved ) my mom treats me as though i am dead to her, she says " i am living the life of a disfellowshipped person, and until i come back to jehovah this is how things will be because this was my choice to leave jehovah " ok i get it, but i don't- everyone has free will, so yes this was my choice but it is also her choice to shun me, especially after the "shun unrepentant wrongdoers" talk at the rc, funny how they come out with these talks to reel members back in.. she claims that she has an obligation to jehovah of which she promised to him after she was baptized not at 11, 13, or 17 ( young ages ) but fricken 26 years old.
i absolutely hate this organization and everything that it is, it's taken away my family and most importantly my own mother.. i always thought that a mothers love was to be unconditional, but hers for me is only conditional.

I too have experienced this conditional love. It was ingrained in me from an early age. I posted my experience recently on my site separatedfromtheflock.org - look for the story "conditional love." Basically my father forever linked his love for me with my love for Jehovah. Over 40 years have passed since that moment and nothing has changed on his side. However I've learned to live without the need for his approval or his love. It's liberating!

If You Refuse to Question, How Can You Be Sure of the Answer?

if you refuse to ask this question with a true open mind and heart, how can it be said you know the answer is yes?
put another way..... if you refuse to ask this question today, how can you really say you know today that the answer is yes?.

So many people have an unquenchable thirst for answers. The JW teachings "close the loop" for so many lost, disenfranchised people. Remember when we were small children and we would drive our parents mad by constantly asking "why? why?" Even at the age of 50 I find myself asking why or how on a daily basis. Someone comes along and says guess what, we have all the answers! It is intriguing. Some just don't like to think for themselves, either because they never learned how or simply would rather not. Personally I'm OK with not knowing the answers to everything. I'll take my freedom of mind over that any day of the week.

Reason's why it is so difficult to leave

You can HAVE spirituality outside of the JW. They will make you feel that you can only talk to God if you use their wires, not true. Many who leave believe they are leaving God, not true. I also do not believe you must have a church, religion or even a belief to have spirituality. Put the Watchtower down, go to the top of a hill or a mountain alone. Become one with the world around you. Find peace. The world is full of love and acceptance but you must love and accept it first.

Saw a great therapist and was diagnosed with post traumatic stress. Any one else?

I was diagnosed with PTSD as a result of mental and physical abuse at the hand of JW parents, among other things. The one therapist out of many that finally led me to see how stuck I was in the past passed away seven years ago but I am so grateful for her.

I skipped going to college out of HS in 1983 because the New System was then, as now, "just around the corner." With my perfect grade point average, my guidance counselor was in shock that I was going to pioneer FT instead of going right to college. That summer after graduation, as my former comrades were preparing to leave for college, I worked as a janitor in a nearby school... After I left the JW, I finally earned my AA, then BA, and then finally MBA nearly ten years ago. Glad I am no longer waiting for the NSOT!

I think back in 1969 the WT Society recommended selling one's possessions since the end of the present system of things was just around the corner. From the GB perspective this means, sell while the market's hot and get a nice place in the country. I'll bet they wanted to sell earlier but 9/11 put a temporary crimp on selling property so close to Ground Zero. Oh well, with the money they made from the sale of these gems they should be sitting pretty for a long time even if Watchtower's don't sell like they used to.
