I would tie her to the chair and have someone begin reading the Babylon book to her. By the time they get to page 300 or so, she'll talk like a parrot.

Have many others suffered from this?

WTS Reparations
by Black Man in.
if you could, what reparations would the wts have to make to you?

If they begin to follow the "don't go beyond the things written" concept and accept the fact that they have tried to micro-manage things in peoples' lives, I would be satisified.
Additionally, I would request some therapy sessions from a physical therapist at Bethel to reshape my butt so it doesn't appear to be molded from the seats in Yankee Stadium. I suffer from the dreaded SAS disease - Stadium Ass Syndrome.

"New Things Learned"
by RubaDub inthere always used to be a part when the co visited called "new things learned" in which we would get a list of things to study prior to the meeting.
to me, the "new things" always seemed to be such basic things like showing love, being respectful, etc.
if this information was so "new," i always thought that someone had been doing a very lousy job teaching.

CO ShowWeek of Special Activities for a couple of years.1. Does the CO still do the New Things Learned thing?
2. Has anyone ever learned anything really "new" from that part?

I remember attending that hell hole (Heb. sheol Gr. hades) known as Vet Stadium in Philadelphia that thankfully is being demolished after the baseball season. We would sit in the upper 700 level (yellow seats) to get away from the Astroturf field surface that was like an oven to be near.
If I can use the word tolerable, it was because we would fill up our gallon jugs with juices or Gatorade and spike it with a bottle or so of good Vodka. You would sweat alot but at least you would have a grin.

Most Confusing Books to Understand
by JH inwhat book did you find the hardest to understand at the book study?
we studied the book "revelation its grand climax at hand!
" three times at the book study, and i found it very confusing each time.

I vote (not in the political sense to avoid stumbling anyone) for the Babylon book also. I was a child at the time and remember studying it at least twice. It had a separate question book as I recall. It was indeed confusing. This means this, this means that, etc. And we thought this meant that, but after they blew a horn at the convention we know it means this ... and on.... and on ... and on.

Drifting Away Signs
by JH inwhat signs did you give, when you started drifting away?
were you able to tell who was slowly drifting away in you congregation just by their attitude?edited by - jh on 19 january 2003 19:18:56.

I think it started when I was in a congregation that had very little territory that could be worked on the weekends (there were a lot of businesses that were closed on the weekends). We would "stretch" the field service time by walking slowly, taking long breaks, etc. I finally started questioning (my bad attitude I guess) the rationality of wasting 2 hours or longer when we could have done the same amount of preaching in a half hour and then go home.
I couldn't believe that a person who wastes time between doors is in some way more pleasing to God than someone who wants to get things done in a timely manner. Looking at it objectively, it's all about control.

do beer commercials cross the line?
by DanTheMan ini was hoping to enjoy the championship game between the eagles and the bucs.. but no more than 5 or 10 minutes into the game, a budweiser ad comes on that uses a very obvious double entendre (a conversation between a man and woman that revolves around the very large sweatshirt she is wearing.
she makes comments like, "small ones are ok, but big ones just feel better.
" the commercial closes with her remarking about his "small hands".).
-
RubaDub
I see nothing wrong with the commercials. They will sell a lot of beer. I would rather see those than someone selling products "for those special days each month" or something to use when a woman just doesn't feel "fresh."
Come on ladies. It's only a commerical.

Was Peter a Pope?
by SwedishChef inthe entire concept of the papacy is of pagan origin.
the title pope, or universal bishop, was first given to the bishop of rome by the wicked emperor phocas in the year 610.. catholic doctrine states that peter was the first pope, suggesting that matthew 16:15-19 is in reference to the papacy.
however, such a concept is ludicrous and should be regarded as such.. .

I don't think Peter was a Pope. I pulled out some older issues of the WT and he appears dressed like everyone else.
