skill on alexa and you too can hear the daily text, w/tower material, kingdom songs , selections from broadcasts , audio bible dramas ...and more from your echo device.

Thanks for the info.

I do have an elderly uncle and aunt who struggle with technology and even have problems at times figuring the jw dot org stuff due to their eyesight. Even switching over to the Roku from the remote and then back can be a challenge. I am the one that ends up going to their place and try to explain how all the stuff works.

If the Echo does the daily text and maybe the study article from the WT for the week, that would really save me a lot of aggravation when they get "stuck" with something and I get that phone call asking for help.

I will check out the Echo since I do not have one of these devices in my own home. I do see they have a Gen 3 thing for about $100 on amazon. I also see they have a 3.5 audio jack on the back which would be good if the sound coming from the small speaker is not the best.

Nothing like spending a week in the sweltering hot July sun at Veterans Stadium

You are bringing back some horrid memories of the heat in that hell-hole called Veterans Stadium. Even if you were at the top in the 700 section (yellow seats) it was still hell in July/August. A stadium that was just one big circle and the field was about 30 feet below the street level. No air to circulate at all and that old Astroturf just held the heat, nothing like regular grass.

I remember a baseball game there where it was so hot, the players were taking their shoes off and soaking them between innings because their feet were so hot running on the field.

A nightmare so sit through an ass embly.

if a jw had the nerve to ask me this question, i'd say to them, "you go first.

using only scriptural proof, show me why you believe that the wtbts/ccojw is god's choice and i'll tell you if i agree with your scriptural reasoning.".

Yes, I think the faithful slave is the channel of communication.

But it still has an analog tuner. You have to wiggle the dial as it fades in and out.

I hope one day to see it go fully digital.

Wow, you are bringing back some classes I took on Psychology in college, especially the part about "citations".

Following all of the APA guidelines on how to quote a book, an article, a person, a group of people and imbed it in the text brings back some interesting memories. You know, the Title Page, Abstract, Main topic, References, etc. (Unless it is an experimental topic or legal which then adds additional sections. Blondie could explain this better than I can). The last I saw, the APA is up to the 6th edition or something.

I just remember many late nights editing a paper on whether to put a period here, a colon there, parenthesis here, italics there, etc.

Wow, I feel like I should add a Reference page.

I remember one professor that made you do citations on virtually everything you wrote. I wanted to ask him if I needed a citation on why I need to go to the bathroom ... lol.

Confession Time - Music You're Embarrassed to Admit Listening To

admit it, we all have things that we reel off when people ask what our favourite music is, just the same as if people ask what our favourite movies are.

we're meant to say "citizen kane" and "casablanca" and not "battleship" or "pacific rim" but we know what we're going to watch if they are ever on tv at the same time (and which ones we've never actually seen).. so how about some confession time?

what do you listen to when no one else is in the house?.

You only have a few years on me (I was a JW teen in the 70's) and yes, I did take my wife to see her "idol" (ooopps, can't use that word in the Borg) Bon Jovi for our anniversary a couple of years ago.

Even then, it was like 250 each for really good seats. I hear that the Stones are getting double that on their tour (or a lot more for the best seats).

Where have the 70's gone?

(BTW, Pink's remake of Jefferson Airplane's White Rabbit is, IMO, better than what Grace originally did. I've listened to the live version on YouTube a hundred times .... "Go ask Alice, I think she'll know .... ").
