When you can't poop by yourself anymore.

having a conversation with a pimi elder and i asked him how he deals with the fact that he never expected to get old.
i get the feeling that some dubs still have the original generation explanation hard-wired, even though they claim to accept the new version.
so my question is, how old do you have to be to be considered old?

i must say, i have had my battery mower, trimmer, blower for about a year now and could not be happier (ryobi 40 volt stuff).
the same battery works in everything.
just plug and play.. yes, they are more expensive to purchase, probably 30% to 50% more than gas.
I actually ended up with two batteries for my Ryobi stuff. I had bought the trimmer and blower a couple of years earlier. When I was looking to buy a new mower, the battery used for the trimmer and battery quit. So I just decided to buy the mower with the new battery and use the battery for all three items.
Stupid me, but a month or so later I saw a Home Depot ad that said Ryobi has a 3 year warranty on the batteries. I called Ryobi and they confirmed it. I had no receipt but they just asked me for the serial numbers of the trimmer, blower, charger and battery that I had originally purchased. He confirmed that these units were part of the same bundled package that I had purchased. The guy had me run a test on the battery and charger while on the phone and he confirmed the problem was the battery. He said yes, it is still under warranty. About a week later I had a new battery. Not a penny out of pocket. They just told me to recycle the old one or take it back to Home Depot for recycling.
In any case, I have the new battery that came with the mower and another new one that Ryobi shipped to me still in the box. One 5 aH battery is enough for me to mow the yard and then use the trimmer and blower.
Overall, extremely happy with the product and service.
Note: Maybe I need to buy a house with a larger yard so I can use both batteries the same day .... lol.

I'm hearing good things about the updated technology and would consider getting one now.
Pete Zahut ...
I would just say, the technology is soooo different from just a few years ago. With the lithium-ion batteries standard now, they hold a charge much longer and don't have the "memory" problems with nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cad) batteries that generally are no longer available for this type of equipment.
I checked around when I bought my stuff but found the 40 volt Ryobi things to be very well recommended and long-lasting. Other brands may serve the purpose too.
But living here in South Florida using these things year-round, I have to say if someone gave me a two-stroke anything that I have to mix gas and oil, push some button 10 times, pull the cord three times, push it again twice, then pull the cord another 10 times or whatever the instructions are and hope it starts while I am sweating my butt off standing in 90 degree weather in the sun, I would hand it back to them and say thank you.
And if you have a gas blower, repeat the process above.
I prefer one squeeze of a button, snap the battery between tools, no smell, little noise and off I go.

i have been thinking... why would anyone want to join the religion or actually stay in the organization.
i understand that people don’t want to lose their loving family and dear friends so some stay in.
but what does anyone really ever get because they are jehovah’s witnesses??.
... What Do Jehovahs Witnesses Offer To Anyone ?
Well, if you are a sister in good standing, I understand there is a special arrangement to obtain JW dot Org pasties you can wear so as not to stumble anyone at the meetings.

Yes, they are more expensive to purchase, probably 30% to 50% more than gas. But not having to buy gas, oil, mix it, pull on a cord a hundred times, change spark plugs, etc etc etc.
I do have a relatively small yard and I can mow it in about 15 minutes, then trim around the edges, then blow the grass away.
Yes, replacement batteries cost around $100. But I got one with the mower and one with the trimmer/blower. I actually only use one since it lasts for everything I need to do. So I have a new battery in the box that I can save until this one starts to die. Typical life is rated at 5-7 years.
In any case, just pressing a button to start things is so great. And don't think these things now are not powerful. I think the trimmer could cut your foot off if you got it in the way, not like the old electric stuff.

i literally had dozens of suits.
i still have more dress clothes than anyone i know.
i did give some suits and clothing away and to be honest, i still like wearing a nice suit.. brothers and sisters, are all your “ meeting clothes” still in your closet?
I am still "in" but not that regular.
I will say, however, it you are in business and need to meet clients, having a nice suit to do the initial meeting is a definite plus, even if no one else is wearing a suit.
I always think that on an initial meeting, it is much easier to take off your jacket and tie as opposed to not be wearing them and everyone else in the room is.
After the initial meeting, it may by just a matter of wearing khakis. But the initial one has the biggest effect.
I never feel bad about having too many good looking suits.

appointment and deletion of elders and ministerial servants.
situations that require a review of an appointed brother's qualifications.
25. committed a disfellowshipping offense years in the past and the matter was never addressed: the body of elders may de- termine he can continue to serve if the following is true: the im- morality or other serious wrongdoing occurred more than a few years ago, and he is genuinely repentant, recognizing that he should have come forward immediately when he sinned.

I think you would be fine as long as your pillow does not have a venereal disease and you can explain to the elders that you did not touch the pillow improperly.

so now they will take anybody

I don't agree that they will appoint just anybody as you assert.
I believe they have the test that you must fog a mirror if they put it under your nose.

i think tesla and musk have officially jumped the shark.. did you see the "cybertruck" they released?
it's like the car that homer built!.
it has to be the ugliest vehicle ever built.
Hybrids are far more practical and realistic than all electric because until you have ultra-fast recharge or replaceable batteries, you will always have anxiety going on a long drive or road trip.
Simon ...
I did have my share of engineering classes in college but my major was not engineering. But I could never understand why this type of hybrid is not more common. Even BMW does it with the i3, an electric car with a small 2 cylinder motor that adds range and charges the battery as you drive.
Since cruising on flat terrain may require only 30-50 horsepower depending on the size/weight of the vehicle, why not have a small (50-75 hp turbo) under the hood to provide enough energy to cruise and yet charge the vehicle at the same time. A small diesel would, IMO, be even better, though a bit more expensive.
When going up a hill or passing, the electric kicks in. When going down the hill, most of the energy would be used to charge the battery and of course the regenerative process when putting on the brakes would further add to the recharge process.
Granted, it may not be the best choice of technology for cruising through the Rockies all day but for 90% or more people that live in flatter terrain it would be a winner. It's no different from living here in the southern part of the US. Trying to find an SUV (other than a Jeep Wrangler) that is 4 wheel drive is difficult to do. Go a few hundred miles north where snow is common, then its hard to find an SUV that is not 4 wheel drive. Difference places, different types of cars.
But I agree that there would be stress (and time) involved in finding a place to recharge a car if you are not on a highway, especially at night.
