  I love heavy metal!!!

  probably you noticed that my avatar is a photo of steve harris, bassist of iron maiden.

  i have quite a few years that i started to listen this kind of music, even when i was in the jwland.

  although it was a "no-no" in the borders of jwland, i knew a lot of brothers and sisters that listened and loved this kind of music.

  me too - always liked metal and got caught up in the satanic panic of the 80s.. playing records backwards.i remember i had def leppard hysteria record and my family had a kingdom bbq thing ..anyway i invited a few young ones into my room and proceeded to play one of the songs backward - it has really clear vocals when u play it. anyway couple of kids totally freaked out and 2 weeks later there was a public needs part on the tuesday night meeting - all about the devil and music. XD

  Set the record straight!

  i would like to state publicly, on this forum, i no longer hold the views i had a year ago.. with much thought, research, study and logical examination i have come to a better understanding of my beliefs and where i stand on all these issues.. i'm very happy to announce i have returned to healthful teaching of the holy scriptures and i firmly believe that the governing body of jehovah's witnesses is the faithful slave.. sorry if i have contibuted to any kind of stumbling and know that if i can turn things around then there's hope for all who come to there sence.. phill4:6,7.

  Hotel California

  growing up was ok being a jw or so i thought, i guess u accept life as it comes when yr a kid , anyhow i played guitar and my elder dad (who is currently df) would forbid me to learn hotel california or even if it came on the radio he would run and quickly turn it off , .

  he explained he had heard a tape recording at work that explained that this song along with stairway to heaven and others had back masking on it and when played backwards would say stuff like "satan has his own congregation " or other stuff like that , now this was not a jw sanctioned audio talk just some other christian production .. none of dad's other peers felt the same and growing up it illustrated to me dad's propensity to be influenced and convinced about something seemingly innocuous to others.. fast forward to a year or so ago and i showed him a section from the eagles documentary where don henley talks about the meaning of hotel california and how much trouble christian evangelists gave the song due to their own interpretation etc , so completely refuted the claims my father had told me were fact as a kid ,from the horses mouth so to speak .

  his answer was ,"well of course he'd say that he wants to save face ,he wouldn't admit the truth !".

  probably true ,the song was supposed to be about the building anton levay converted into satanic church.. the eagles members said it was metaphorical though.

  but so what?

  we only do what we want to..brain washing isnt real unless you're on medication.

  blaming back-masking on your actions is laughable.

  i think what it comes down to basically in a nutshell :

  As far as their thinking goes - our families are choosing to spend 'eternal life without us' rather than spend the 'rest of our lives' with us.

  Understanding that point is what helped me to fully let go.

  For a long time I thought they were shunning me because they wanted me to return.

  But it wasnt that at all.

  They chose their path and nothing will come in between them and their goal.

  Visiting Japan and saw one of those Carts. What is the purpose of those book carts for the borg?

  i'm in japan for three weeks visiting my sister-in-law and brother.

  the people are so polite and i came across two female jw using the cart.

  it is the same experience i noticed back in the states.

  the carts are the new face of the organization. i think they are a great idea actually - from a business perspective..free advertising,brand awareness etc.. also i think a lot of people prefer having the carts on the street at the same location,rather than incessant door knocking. at the very least you can avoid using that particular corner or street if you dont want it in your vision

  my g'daughter and her hubby are stationed in okinawa.. i talked with her a few hours earlier today, and she stated they're preparing for the worst.. young people are remarkably resilient, aren't they?.

  Growing up JW kid: do you recognize

  born in 1970, 4th generation jw and parents who were loyal to but could also think on their own.. my father always said, the show goes on, so he had a respectable community job, advisor of the city counsel of the town.

  and buying ald building houses for us.

  we were on the move.. what i remember is the many conversations at home about the other witnesses.

  i grew up with a regular pioneer mother and an inactive stepfather.mum use to put a head covering on and pray at meal time.. school was hell.when i left i got a job as a window cleaner and pioneered for 10 years..got married and slowly started to fade... eventually divorced and was df'ed - now work in education in an asian country.
