The Co-Worker JW
by berylblue inas some of you may remember, i started a new job a month ago and discovered a co-worker was a jw (saw an "examing" book in his drawer, and he spoke of not celebrating birthdays).
well, one day some of us newbies were talking and somehow someone started telling really bad jw jokes.
now, all during hr indoctrination, we were told never to make jokes about someone's religion (duh) because that person could be offended and report the source of the jokes.

As some of you may remember, I started a new job a month ago and discovered a co-worker was a JW (saw an "Examing" book in his drawer, and he spoke of not celebrating birthdays). Well, one day some of us newbies were talking and somehow someone started telling really bad JW jokes. Now, all during HR indoctrination, we were told never to make jokes about someone's religion (duh) because that person could be offended and report the source of the jokes. I just said, "You might want to re- think the Witnesses jokes, there may be some Witnesses here".
(Now, keep in mind that my "team" members usually just blow me off anyway, and it is sore point with me. My tendency is not to speak up unless I'm 99.99 percent certain I am right.)
"Don't be ridiculous. There are no JWs here."
"Yeah, Rose, I don't think so either."
I probably would have let it go until someone said, "You don't know what you're talking about." To me, those are fighting words, since when I do finally open my mouth, it is precisely because I know what I'm talking about.
"J. is a witness."
"No way. "
"No chance."
"Why would you say that?"
I explained about the birthdays, and the Examining book. To which one replied, "I read "Our Daily Bread" every day, I'm not a Witness."
I explained how only baptized JWs can get this book.
They were so adamant that I was wrong that I just said, "Fine. I'm wrong."
Damned if the next day one of my bitchy team members said to J. "What church do you go to?"
I actually felt sorry for him. Been there, done that....the unexpected question, the reluctance to disclose...
"Well, uh....well, I don't go to a church. I go to a KH, I am a Jehovah's Witness."
At that point, the discussion ended when a supervisor came by.
Due to my merciful nature I, of course, resisted the urge to say to her, "Told you so."
The story is pointless; I'm just bored. And upset. Damned Mother's Day.

THE ONLY ONE BURSTING MY FAMILY WTS BUBBLE!
by be wise inthese things about the society have been nagging me and i just couldnt keep them in any longer.
basically ive just told my mum everything about the org and what i think of it covering itself, misleading its followers and the issues of child abuse.
basically my dad said its people who have a vendetta against the society and a lot of the stories are made up.

Women: Do you actually experience penis envy?
by berylblue in.
i always thought this was ridiculous, and that if anyone suffered from anything, men suffered from womb envy.. tim has challenged me to ask women; i don't know if he's teasing or not, but he says i will absolutely find women have penis envy.
i say no frigging way.. please offer opinions both ways.

in this context i have a question for all woman....if possible would you prefer to carry out your baby or let it grow in a artificial "incubator" ? ...thus not being effected physically and mentally by the pregnancy.
Good question, realist. I honestly don't know.

Have you got to the phase of throwing all JW literature away
Yes. I felt bad about it, but I didn't have the room in storage for it.

What GOD says about US.
by Blueblades inaccording to the bible here is what god says about us.. the man has become like one of us,throw him out of the garden, don't let him live forever.. i regret that i even made man.i am going to wipe him out!.
the inclination of the heart of man is bad from his youth up,so i am not going to call evil down upon him anymore,i'll just let him grow old get sick and die!.
there is nothing that they may have in mind to do,let's confuse their language, that will slow them down until bill gates comes along!.

Let's see...over the years, probably about 4 relatives and god, I don't know, about 10 friends and some casual acquaintances. and co-workers. My father has harped on this endlessly.
I've heard it a lot. One architect with whom I worked said that he felt his frenzy to create was because he couldn't actually create a baby the way a woman does. In that same discussion, another architect agreed, stating that he had to labor weeks to create a house whereas women could create life effortlessly.
My answer to that was that it was not without some "help", and that it was, indeed, effortless. Anyone could do it; damned if I could design a house....
Being a woman, it's difficult for me to understand how it feels to be a father. I know the intense attachment I felt toward my children when they were born because I'd already "known" them for 9 months...I'm not explaining myself well....Does anyone understand what I can't understand? My father did a few minutes of pleasurable "work" for his contribution; my mother carried me for nine months....
If someone can help me sort out what I'm trying to say, I 'd appreciate it. It's not that I want anyone to do my thinking for me (well, not in this case, I am certainly not averse to it in other situations in which I can't be bothered, like calculus problems), but in this situation, I just can't ascertain the right way to pose my question.
