since i have plenty of extra time on my hands tonight, i have been perusing the forum participants' biographies.
some are quite remarkable, and some are short n' sweet but nonetheless indicative of what brings us here to this forum collectively.
there are few that have nothing, but that could be due to privacy issues or computer/forum incapatabilities (not sure).

gratitude first...thank you all for tolerating my rambling, self indulgent, and sometimes "know it all" posts.
you have all been gracious, caring, and wonderful support.
i have found some of you to be hilarious and warm... those who have come here for help, have cerainly stumbled into something wonderful.
Thank you all for the little flame thingy..... I am proud of it now. Brummie... I tried to post some artwork on another thread... was told you cannot put pics on from your c drive. Whe I get the new avatar after Simon fixes the "edit" I will put one on there. (cant find my own posts now without that shiny moon to guide me......)
Mouthy..... hee hee... I am listening to your testimony right now.... I am so attracted to British accents... I married one you know......From Culchester.... Sounds a weee bit Irish
I live in Central Georgia. It is running anywhere from $1.18 to $1.32 per gallon. All last summer though, you could get it for $1.02.
I dont know what the exchange rate is right now with Britain.... assumes $5.80 equals about $3.00 american. (assumes you are talking about pounds)
if you went to someones house as a guest and they asked you to take your shoes off..would you?..would you be offended?....
does anyone know if this is proper etiquette?.
didn't know where else to post this........ my daughter was invited to a neighbors house and they requested people remove their shoes!...she never had anyone ask her that before.
that word.... "householder".... I have not heard that in twenty years.... Swear to me you will never use that word again. It gives me the hee-bee-gee-bees
he he he

Only in the last five years or so, have I engaged in the interesting habit people have of wearing shoes. I mostly started doing it because I was afraid I may one day step on an aids infected needle or something.
I still have problems walking in them... and when I race my step-son and his friends across the yard... I have to remove the shoes.
However, I have always kept a clean tub of water by the back door, for me to step into before entering the house. And when going to someone's house, I am inclined to be extra careful about hygene. (clean claws) More often than not rather than being asked to take them off.... I am asked to put them on. As I now understand it... it is somehow considered rude to walk about in naked feet.
But I agree, that when going to someone's home you must respect their wishes. I know that most of us were raised JW's and we are used to being pushy, about going into other's homes, but I would say just to be polite.... remove them if asked.

Just a question.... How has this character managed to escape the elders punishment? I thought they were against the internet.... and I thought they were against claiming to be prophets. I mean, he has links right to the WTS website.
Could this be yet another inconcistency? Hmmmmmmmm
Of course... we know they have a good answer for it as usual. One.... long..... boring..... generic...... answer.
does anyone know if the wt believes that the nomadic tribes in africa and the pygmy tribes living in the rainforests will be destroyed at armageddon( tm)?
since these people have been living more or less the same simple lives for thousands of years in some of the remotest parts of the world, and also i guess there would be a problem with the language barrier, i'd take it that the wt hasn't really been able to spread it's false prophecies and dangerous medical and psychological practices, sorry - i meant "good news" in these parts of the world.
I asked my father this question when I was very young (similliar question anyway)... I have no scriptural basis... and may not be quoting the "current belief" (you know how that goes).
He told me that according to God.... "Every eye shall See" and that amrageddon could not come until that happened. He said these people would be given the opprutunity to learn the truth. It would then be up to them to make that choice.
So... I think they started a HUT to HUT campaign sometime around the early seventies. Hoping that they could all learn "pygmie" talk before 1975 hit.
But kat newmas wonders, if perhaps some of them did not stumble into a primitive tribe of cannibals, and tried to convince them that "eating blood" was just not good.
what a journey this has been?
i am reflecting over the years that i spent as a jehovah's witness today mark a decade and a half.
i find it incredible that i would come to this situation.
Hellooooooooo ....
Welcome.
Sit back fasten your seatbelt.... and grab a cup o' Java....
Cause you are in for the ride of your life. These are the greatest group of people to Grace the Net with their wisdom. They will share with you , listen to you, and be really really nice.
did any of you hear any of the urban legends that jw's used to scare people into being deathly afraid of demons?
for example i remeber hearing that a child brough a smurf doll to a meeting and upon hearing the name jehovah uttered it got up and walked out.
got any j-dub urban legends?
this may be a repeat... but I also heard about John Denver... I was told at one of his concerts he asked all the members of JW's to stand (they did not knowing what he was going to do) When they stood up... he led his group into the National anthem.
From that point... needless to say... I wasn't allowed to sing "Sunshine" anymore
i have so many, i don't know where to start.
I also could not justify shunning people, in my conceince. It seemed to go against everything the bible stood for... (fruits of the spirit)
I didnt believe, from childhood, that God was not Omnipitent (sp?) or all knowing. The concept of "tempting" eve with a peice of fruit, seemed to also go against the statement that "God is a loving God", (but that belief is not original to JW's) My mother used to tell me that if you 'saw" him you would go blind... which to me meant that God isnt something we were really meant to fully comprehend for now. Yet they claim to know what God wants right down to (covering heads, and filling out time-cards)
I also believed that (cover your eyes ladies) masturbation was not some "unnatural act" .... I mean, they teach that sex in general can not be for pleasure, and it isnt natural to want it... It IS by my observations the most basic human instinct (apart from eating) for just about every life-form on earth.
I also could not justify that all its members should engage in House to House work.... To me that is a very heavy responsibility to go to the home of another, and claim to have the only path to God. Children who have not even "reached an age of understanding" have no business trying to make life changing decisions, for another human being like that. But they must be forgiven...."for they (truly) know not what they do". However, I would someday like to be given the opprutunity to go back and "staighten out" all the people I was forced, to impose these views on. How's that for the ultimate Apostate? And I truly hope that nobody I ever talked to is still a member of this cult, because of my actions. When I was very young, I remember a bible study we used to conduct every week with a very poor woman, and her three children (absent father) I remember that she seemed intimidated into it. very sad.
I cannot say that I have proof, or am justified.... these are just some of the things I couldn't buy into myself.... I could go on... and on... (like the energizer bunny)
