This whole subject is one that completely does my head in. I just cant take it when I hear that that some poor pioneer prayed for some cheap to shoes (or a tank of fuel) continue witnessing in and got them ...while nothing was done for the witnesses that were been gang raped or chopped up with machetes in places like Rwanda or Malawi. Was it because the African prayers were a bit short (cut off you could say) ... or is it because shoes or petrol is more valuable to Jehovah than peoples lives?

"Prayer" and answers to it , positive / negative ,or is it all in the mind ?
by smiddy3 inspeaking from my own experience and that of my family of wife and two now adult sons do not believe that prayers to jehovah /god are answered .. so it must also be true of all other religions and their believers also.. my wife and i were jw`s for 33 years and and i don`t believe anyone prayed harder than my wife and i at various trials we faced during those times in those 33 years.. we may as well have been like the present day jews who pray to a brick wall .

I think it's possible for a change of trend in JW growth

Chook ... sorry, perhaps I've misunderstood your post. In any case, I'm sure that what ever our Popes in Warwick will do or try ... it ultimately will have no impact on the collapsing number of the Brotherhood because of the biological forces occurring around us. The only thing they can do, though ... is speed up this decline by their stubborn refusal to grasp the idea that more and more people know that the society is just another high maintenance man-made religion ... and refusing to made meaningful changes to lighten the load from the rank and file.

With deep respect to Chook ... but there is absolutely zero chance that the Organization will grow ... absolutely zero. Its going to fall and begin falling very rapidly. And its due to only one thing ... the age demographics of the western world. We all know that the age profile of the Organization is about 10 years older than the local populations and when coupled with the fact of the low birth rate of Witnesses, it goes to underscore the current reality of the very real population decline. Don't believe me ... go look inside any Kingdom Hall in Europe or Australia ... and see that it's all ready just another a senior citizens club.

Spirit directed vs inspired
by Jules Saturn ini've always been confused as to what the discrepancy is between the phrases "spirit directed/spirit led" and "inspired".
in the february 2017 watchtower study article, paragraph 12 says:.
12 the governing body is neither inspired nor infallible.

I thought about this issue a lot in the beginning. And the conclusion I ultimately came up with is that ... while the Governing Body says that they are spirit directed, in practice they expected everyone to view what they say as spirit inspired.

JW Definition of "Apostate"
by Saename inso recently, after having a conversation with a jehovah's witness, i started wondering about how jws define the term "apostate.
" officially, every elder would tell you that an apostate is one who leaves the jehovah's witness faith.
but did anyone else notice that this is not how they use the word colloquially—that they're sort of dishonest about it?.

The Organizational view of apostasy is deliberately quite broad. However, as Shepherless mentioned ... apostasy is generally viewed as occurring when a person proclaims the complete abandonment of his faith for another (or none in some cases) ... where as a heretic is a person who proclaims his or her disagreement with a established church primary teaching and does not want to recant.

Most Jw would take a bullet before renouncing faith
by Chook inour enthusiasm for truth is not shared with our former brothers.
they base their whole lives on a historical book yet won't look back 50 years to see origins of cult..

We all know that Witness visualize the WW2 German concentration camps and firing squads for the mental imagery of their forth coming persecution and testing. However, I'm convinced that the Brotherhood does not have the same level of commitment as those of years before. Of course most elders would put on a brave face and stand against the wall (for a number of reasons) ... but I doubt the bulk of the Publishers would do the same today. A lot go to the meetings, do all the stuff good JWs do and have the 'talk' ... yet their 'walk' in real life reflects they are weak as hell.

Hi guys,
while I do appreciate the link, this recording is from quite an old assembly program. While they haven't changed their tune, I did think that this was something new.

Dealing with Loneliness and Social Anxiety
by NoviceLocs14 inhello, this is my 1st initiated post on this site, so i'm a bit nervous.
i did search for similar topics on this site, but a lot of them have been inactive for several years, so here goes.... a little background, i was pretty much born in "da twoof", baptized at 17, pioneered for about 6 years, was part of the rbc part time, and was even in the foreign language field for the last 3 years i was a jw.
so i pretty much had a pretty active social life within the organization due to being part of all of those things.

Hi Novice,
after a lifetime of being told that worldly people are lairs, immoral, drug taking alcoholics who can never be trusted, it's no wonder that we have social issues. But from my own experience, I've found that most people are just trying to find their way in this world and many have the same worries and insecurities as we do. Of course there are those people who are self-centered and generally not nice to be with but I've known many of these kinds in the Truth over the years too. My only advice is to "have friends by being one first". Task a risk and do random acts of kindness to those who might need a little encouragement. It may never be returned by that particular person, but your character will develop and so will your reputation for being a good person. And just as your husband said, try something new ... scuba diving, tennis, stamp collecting, what ever ... and besides stretching your personal boundaries, you'll have something new to talk about over coffee to others.

The future
by no-zombie inconsidering the demographic transition patterns of societies historically under go and in particular how the population pyramids evolve over time has a direct application to the future of the organization and i encourage all to have a look at this very interesting subject.
i've spent quite a bit of time formally studying these proven concepts and despite all the spin we hear and read about the magnificent growth the society is enjoying ... it is in fact in a death spiral (or more exactly a stage 5 population contraction).
look it up for yourselves guys, it can be quite encouraging when you think about.

Because it explains a lot of what we see going on around up and despite all the tinkering the GB has does around the edges, I strongly believe that the future doesn't look that good for those in Warwick or all the diehards we know.
