And I thought Saddam was evil! But seriously, Jehovah was just funnin' around and he has the ultimate right to decide who dies and lives and we really can't understand his perfect reasoning, right? He really meant he loved the little babies who's hearts were ripped out. And their parents were evil so the babies were going to grow up to be evil no matter what, which is about par for the course, unless it's a birdie. No wonder he used murderers like David and Solomon to write part of the Bible. Like father like son.

Come to think of it, I should be shunning my sisters for believing in such a horrible god instead of them shunning me for rejecting "him," as if he really exists. I don't worship murderers. Call me crazy if you will.

a cat - if i can take care of it .

a horse (but in arizona they live free so there i wouldn't have to buy one).

i was wondering today.

my own experience with the jw's started when i was 3 years old.

at 8, i began to experience the misogynystical attitude that characterized being a jw woman, and was really adverse to it.

Is there one thing that convinces you that the JW's are wrong ???

doctrines, people, elders, family, beliefs, is there a certain thing that convinces you they are wrong ???.

had a discussion with my mom the other day and she asked "how can you be so sure they are wrong ?".

i picked two topics that i had not talked to her about ( already said the pedophile, un, generation stuff.).

I agree about alienating the youth. I started a savings account at age 6 to save up for a car to pioneer. Cashed it out when 16 and bought a car for that purpose 10 years later. I had already "vacation" pioneers numerous times and became a regular pioneer at 17, yet I was unqualified because of my age for responsible positions. I was always held back in school and then in the borg. I slowed down because what's the point? I eventually became a MS but not for long. I never was motivated to pormote "me" but it's insulting when you're held back only because of age.

christianity, in it's truest, fundamentalist form, promotes an unhealthy and non-productive victim mentality.

the christian feels helpless on his own -- condemned by sin and absolutely unworthy.

I don't mean to argue but I guess we just disagree. Your points are confusing to me because if it was just a "recorded private conversation" then all scripture is NOT inspired and the Bible is not God's word. Either it is or it isn't. Either God murdered an innocent child or that scripture isn't inspired. If "a life for a life" makes sense, then why take the life of an innocent child for the sins of his parents? It's just unreasonable and wrong. I gladly reject any god who would kill an innocent child for the sins of others as an unworthy god, certainly not one who loves me or anybody else.

David and Solomon were MUCH worse than me, not just as bad, being murderers. While I have a hard time with a God who would accept the repentance of a deliberate murderer, to use such a murderer to write holy scriptures is unfathomable. It takes faith.............because it is unreasonable and makes no sense. Something that is reasonable and provable takes no faith since it can be proven by testing.

"And Jehovah proceeded to deal a blow to the child that the wife of Uriah had borne to David so that it took sick." (2 Samuel 12:15) So according the the Bible, the God of Love executed an innocent child plus let it suffer for 7 days before it died. Surely you knew Jehovah did this and it wasn't just David's perception, no?

"And David began to comfort Bathsheba his wife. Further, he came in to her and lay down with her. In time she bore a son, and his name came to be called Solomon. And Jehovah himself did love him." (2 Samuel 12:24) So Jehovah now loved the the second son for some reason, probably because he was to become a murderer himself. (2 Kings 2) Of course, it was ok that this murderer could author a signifcant portion of the inspired scriptures. If murderers like David and Solomon are the best Jehovah can find to inspire to write the Bible then I question why anyone would read it.

"I love you, and you can have life now!".

I used to believe something like that, too. But if I don't choose him then he will execute me because he loves me, right? Or else torture me eternally, along with a few other billion people. I'm not trying to argue, just trying to make sense out of the love thing. I do respect your opinion.

Do you have children? I love my children (now grown) and don't put them to the test to see if they love me, nor do I demand that they choose me or I will kill or torture them. I just love them unconditionally. It seems to me that my love is of much greater quality than the god of the Bible, who intentionally killed David and Bathsheba's baby for their sins. That is not love but pure evil, in my opinion.

Outstanding topic and post, Bradley, which I agree with wholeheartedly. Personally, I refuse to believe in talking donkeys. (Num. 22:28) Call me crazy if you will. The message of Chrisitianity is, "You suck and need to sell yourself into slavery to save yourself in a future time." The atheist knows he can't waste a day because this is it and it's time to get on with living. Remeber the "Kiss Hank's Arse" thread? LOL

If there is a god of love I would just like one question answered: "Besides condemning billions to death for the sin of two people, how many millions has God personally had killed and how many billions will he kill in the future?" A "God of Love?" What a joke. This kind of love I don't need, thank you very much.

Poor JW dies from heat stroke

i woman in mesa, arizona whom i've known for over 30 years recently died in her mobile home.

83 years old and too poor to afford the added electricity of air conditioning on her $500/month social security check, she was found dead in her chair with a fan blowing on her.

the elders said they didn't know.

Yes, good points. I think that is the main reason for the neglect, (other than the obvious lack of love), the inability to count time. It's the same way when you fade out, they can't count time on you. I remember those articles, too.
