never buy rca products if you know what is good for you.

i had a dvd/vcr combo recorder that i bought brand new in april 2006. in november 2006 it died on me.

Shouldn't you call UPS instead of RCA with the tracking number? RCA would probably not have it on file and would have to contact UPS to find out where the package is just in case it wasn't delivered. That's probably why RCA is making you wait 3 days. You've asked them to do what it seems to me would be easier for you to do. I say easier for you because sometimes UPS won't give the info to the receiver, only to the sender. I could be mistaken, but that's the way it worked when a package we sent got lost.

I would verify that UPS did actually deliver it. With their receipt in hand, you can check their site on the internet and see all the different places where your recorder went from one truck to another or was stored in a warehouse. Some months ago our company sent something from Canada to Ohio, and we thought it was delivered. Months went by and our customer phoned to ask when we plan to ship the item. We were stunned. UPS never told us until we asked, but the item was destroyed by water and fire when one of their warehouses had a big fire.

I've had RCA products for years and have had no problems, either with them or with the Thomson Company. (Thomson is spelled without a "p".) As a matter of fact, some of the GE and RCA radios distributed by Thomson are of superior quality. I wouldn't try to give a company a bad name just because of one representative who disappointed me. And, who knows? The guy may be completely innocent. It's just possible the fault is with UPS, not RCA or Thomson.

You probably meant the 1950s. WBBR went off the air in 1957. In the 70s, New York City's WPIX-FM carried a Society program on Sunday mornings for several years. It had a 15-minute speech and a 15-minute interview of an elder or two at Bethel. Eventually a total of 360 stations carried the program in the US, Canada and two other countries, and I must say it was of high calibre, nothing like the hateful stuff put out by Rutherford. It was produced by Tim Galfas of the Gilead Office. The mello voice of Ulysses Glass introduced and closed each program.

On the other hand, you are probably right about the 1960s. I remember efforts wer made to get special talks broadcast by local stations, and probably this got some results here and there. I remember we were successful in getting stations to broadcast the Sunday public address at conventions, even some circuit assemblies, and if I remember right, that was done particularly in the 1950s and 60s.

If it was an effective means of doing the work there is no way they would have stopped it.

Amen to that. If JWs had been preaching the gospel as Jesus preached it, they would no doubt be far, far more widely known than they are, and for a good reason. They brought doom upon themselves by their calamity-howling, by their hatefulness toward others and by strutting around as though they and they alone have a relationship with God and Christ.

Here in Canada, we can thank JWs for the existence of the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation).

In 1928 the government revoked the radio licenses of the International Bible Students Association (former name of Watch Tower Society) because of its attacks against the government, against other religions, and especially against the Catholic Church. This stirred a heated debate in Parliament with opposers of the ban arguing that the government was interfering with freedom of religion. Prime Minister Mackenzie King then set up a Royal Commission to help shape the future of Canadian Broadcasting. Because the Commission was fearful that other groups from the US like the newly-formed American networks and through them private groups like the Watchtower might get to dominate Canadian airwaves, the government-owned CBC was eventually born.

From time to time in "Golden Age" magazine articles,, the JWs let it be known that they were unhappy with the process that was leading up to the formation of the CBC which eventually began broadcasting nationwide in November 1936.

The JWs were also getting bad vibes from the public because groups like the KKK advertised and produced programs on some of the same stations. WBBR was sold in New York City because it was unprofitable. JWs were probably the only ones who listened to it, and it wasn't leading anybody to join the organization. The organization decided the money used for operating the station could be put to better advantage in the printing business. The guy who bought the station made a monstrous profit when he sold the station several years later.
