I thought the question was "Is there a God?" How did we get into "Who created God?"? The fact remains that there is overwhelming evidence of design everywhere. Design within the known universe requires a designer. As I see it, that just might not be necessary outside the universe that our finite minds are able to comprehend.

Is there a God/supreme being/ or what?!
by DigitalFokus inok, so i was raised luthren, my dad was cathlioc and then i went dub for 5 years and since have been completely turned off religion.
the dub experience combined with world events and my personal ones have pretty much pushed all thoughts of a "almighty" out of my mind.
of course there are times that i think of religion or get into a "2am religion talk" and i wonder wtf is really going on.

No poem exists without a poet, and no law exists without a lawgiver. No painting exists without a painter, and no musical score exists without a composer. It requires the intelligence of at least one brilliant engineer to create the most complex computer. From the macrocosm to the microcosm, it is plainly evident that design is an inherent characteristic of the universe. If no intelligent Creator exists, then neither does any poet, lawgiver, painter, composer or engineer.
Beyond that, I have to say that my experience with prayers is all the proof I need that there is a God who answers.

Grace,
I'm sure you'll miss the ol' place with all its great memories, though it also saw some deep sadness. I hope some of your experiences in the new place will be the best ever.

I wonder if any ex-elders (or current ones) that post here remember that or have a copy of the letter?
I don't know whether or not this is helpful, but John Burns was not a lawyer when he came into the Canadian branch. He received his status as an attorney for the Society after he took a course at a college or university in Toronto. I remember that he used to leave Bethel early in the morning and not return until late in the day. Not many of us knew where he was during the day, but I was told later that he was attending courses at the University of Toronto -- while the rest of us were working at our jobs at the branch and were often told that getting a college education was an example of putting aside Kingdom interests for selfish personal pursuits. -

Ever wondered about Colossians 1:23?
by scout575 incolossians 1:23b claims that by the time of writing, the good news had been preached, "to every creature ( "all creation" - nwt ) which is under heaven.
" had the good news really been preached in 'all creation under heaven' when colossians was written?
was this statement inspired by an all-knowing god or does it just reflect reflect the ignorance of the time, as to the size of the world?

Are you saying that ... the Apostles were in the Australian wilderness preaching to the native people there?
All I'm saying is that it's possible, just as it was possible for the apostles to raise the dead and perform other miracles by divine authority and power.

Why is there no mention in the NT of Christianity reaching these places?
Depending upon whether you accept them at face value, "these places" are encompassed in the following verses:
- "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations." (Matthew 28:19)
- "And [Jesus] said to [the apostles], 'Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation." (Mark 16:15)
- "Now there were Jews living in Jerusalem, devout men from every nation under heaven." (Acts 2:5)
- "we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles" (Romans 1:5)
- "Their voice has gone out into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world." (Romans 10:18)
- "the revelation ... has been made known to all the nations" (Romans 16:25, 26)
- "But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place." (2 Corinthians 2:14)
- "in all the world also it is constantly bearing fruit and increasing" (Colossians 1:6)

The book I have claims Thomas went to India, that he or another apostle went to China and Japan, and that another one or two went even to the Americas.
