  the january 15, 1970 watchtower p. 37-40 contains arcticle titled: .

  "the "first man" represents the believers who remain faithful to their church out of loyalty to the religion they were brought to believe in.

  thier attitude is: right or wrong, it is my religion!

  yes john 6:68 is used a lot by churches to emtionaly blackmail their members to stay with their church.

  i dont believe Jesus ever said anything similar when he talked about the jewish temple and its hierarchy .

  Alone at new years eve again

  new years eve 1996 was the last time i enjoyed a new years eve with a girlfriend.

  even though i wasnt into celebtrating it in a major way because of the jw influence on my life, it was a really great time to be with someone i cared about.

  1997 onwards i became involved with the jws and of course i couldnt become involved with a worldly girl, so i became celebate.

  maybe celebate was the wrong word to use, i just meant being without a girlfriend deliberately because of the situation i was in.

  thanks guys for the comments, i think maybe some of the past 5 years may have been wasted to a certain extent because of the fact i let the WTS decide what i was going to do, i think feelings about that come into it somewhere. friends dont go out like they used to, so its very difficult to go to the places where lots of girls are without looking like i hermit. i'm trying dating services, not much success so far.

  maybe i should harden up, and say 'bah humbug', and not get myself involved with the festive spirit. i dont know. for the past 5 years i've had to look at things in a real selfish way so as to be not bothered with all this, maybe i'll have to become doubley selfish.

  1997 onwards i became involved with the JWs and of course i couldnt become involved with a worldly girl, so i became celebate. (no chance of a JW girlfriend with the way they looked and the way their brains worked)

  2002 now uninvolved with the JWs and still on my own, i think this time it might be tougher than previous. it would be soooo nice to meet someone, to share time with, especially this period. its a time when people forget their troubles and think of others. people become more emotional and friendly.

  looks like i'll just have to sit in home and watch tv again. hhmmmm....

  Elder Resigns Because Of 9---11

  last night i talked to an elder that resigned early this year and he told me that he resigned as an elder because of 9--11. he felt that after seeing thousands of people dying in such a horrifying way, there was just no way god would destroy 99 and 9 tenths of the world and only spare jehovah's witnesses.

  he also felt that since the kingdom message could not be adequately preached by a handful of jw's so that people could get life, the whole thing is a sham.

  he no longer goes to meetings and his wife crys to everybody about her husband.

  i question if this elder had any faith at all. in fact i question whether many JWs have any faith other than in the WTS. maybe it was his faith in the WTS that led him to quit God.

  unfortunately we cant escape the fact that the bible says that all those against God will suffer destruction. we have to accept it or reject it. God has done it in the past and he will do it again. thats the way it is.

  The coming "disassociations"

  i have seen several threads about how the elders are going to be going around asking people if they still consider themselves to be jehovah's witnesses.

  this will undoubtedly result in multiple da announcements in the coming months.

  i'm curious how the average jw will perceive this and respond to it.

  well i was a little crafty, because i went to see an elder just before i stopped going to meetings, where i made a statement to him that i wasnt going anymore and the reasons why. he asked me questions and i responded to them, luckily they weren't the killer questions any of these inquisitors would like to ask, so i got off lightly.

  so if i do get a visit, it'll become like how the old Prime Minister's question time used to be....." i refer the honourable gentleman to the stateman i gave a few months ago"
