  thanks viv. that reminds of a soldier friend of mine who was in germany on a NATO exercise. he was with the british pioneer corps who were guarding a convoy of mobile missiles. the only way anyone could enter the convoy was at either end and not anywhere else, otherwise they could be killed (seriously). this US general thought because he was a General didnt have to follow this protocol and decided he would enter along the middle. this corporal stopped him, the general went into a rave about how he was a US general and he could go anywhere he damned well pleased. the corporal warned him that if he attempted to enter that he would be bayoneted, and that he should enter the convoy at either end. a few seconds later the general was lying on the ground yelping, with a stab wound to his shoulder.

  i'll have to do some research into 'Amen'. have read a little about it from egypt. i dont think there's anywhere in the bible where jesus says amen, although he is said to be the 'Amen'. was the amen introduced into the bible after it was completed?

  Special Meeting on 4/27/03 ?

  a friend told me she wanted to attend a special meeting today, sunday april 27. her health has been bad for the last few months so she hasn't attended anything except the memorial in about 6 months.

  why this meeting was referred to as "special" wasn't mentioned.. since the jw like to march in lock-step uniformity, i am assuming this meeting is going to be the same country (world) wide?

  is a local meeting being special allowed if all other meetings are not (for the most part)?

  wouldnt what you say be the case for a normal card reading? but if the person who created that page was trying to convey a message, the meaning may not necessarly be the same. i was thinking more along the lines of love of the watchtower ends with death. possible.

  i was raised in the "truth" - although neither of my parents were never really stellar examples of good jw's.

  i'm not unduly worried about contracting sars, particularly as the chances of getting it are remote.

  there's plenty more threatening illnesses around that aren't remote, but leastways i can have some control over these far more dangerous diseases by how i conduct my lifestyle.

  just thinking about authorities being ready to cope with sars....

  did anyone here in england see the panorama programme that showed that the government knew of foot & mouth before the outbrake, as they were contacting surpliers for the materials needed to cope with F&M? did tony blair have a crystal ball? if this was the case in england with F&M, who's to say that sars wasnt at least known about before it got going, if not started by the powers that be?
