When I was a dub I was never embaressed about it and defended the borg in every way, as long as it didn't go against my conscience. When I started working I made sure it be known because of Xmas and birthdays.

And if I met people I knew at the door I always spoke about why I was there and never had a problem with being ridiculed or feeling shy. I believed in it and I did what I believed was right to do.

But just as equally, when I left I didn't hide that either. And I am very open about why I left. I have been 100% honest and open in both situations. I figure I owe it to people, to forewarn them and hopefully protect them from the cult.

I have just met you on WA and we are from the same place. I don't use my name because I'm not df'ed or da'ed and I believe I can be more useful to dubs still in if I am not out of the borg. When I see any I tell them my story and you should see their faces. But your brother prefered to make excuses for the borg rather than be disgusted by what it did to my family.

I am very happy you are here and you can PM me. I will get back to you and we can meet, support eachother and meet others in our situation in Canberra.

why do some elders love being elders?

it's because they belong to a club.

Minimus..............you put into words exactly what it means to be an elder. It is truley disgusting what those men get away with. It always amazed me how the R&F had to be soooooooo fearful of gossip or slander, but elders..........................................

You can sit around with other grown men and "legally gossip"

If a fellow "Boy's Club" member has some juicy gossip that he's heard about another member of the congregation, he must tell the entire "Boy's Club" so that everyone can get in on the allegations.

UNLESS....................the incident is so true and revolting, or the person who has done something REALLY bad is related to another elder or MS, then the elders who have been informed of the incident (like when we informed 2 elders of my kid's sexual abuse by a MS's fleshly brother) may choose to keep it 'between themselves' so that the pedophile and his family don't suffer more than necessary.

It can make an elder feel very, very important

Is this another form of 'small man syndrome' like needing to compensate for a small ????????????????????? because most of the young elders I've ever met had ego and esteem issues.

Power = abuse.

"Depending on the version of the Bible you use, there are as many as 40 passages that refer to nudity," said Bill Martin, co-founder of Natura, which will be the first Christianity-themed nudist colony in the country when it opens in a Tampa suburb in April.

"In (the Bible book of) Isaiah 20.2, God tells Isaiah to go into the wilderness naked for three years. So there's historical basis for a Christian nudist lifestyle," continued Martin, who is a Quaker.

When Natura is completed, the 240-acre resort area will have 500 homes, a hotel, a water-slide park, and a non-denominational Christian church. Although nudity will be mandatory, attending church services will be clothing-optional for residents, according to Martin.

Followers of the Baptist, Catholic, Jehovah's Witnesses, Mennonites, and Quaker religions are some of the different Christian denominations who will call Natura home.

"Fundamentalist Christians and the Southern Baptists may object to us, but I will meet with them anytime to talk about both Natura and nudity," said Martin. "It's funny that some Southern Baptists oppose us, because for about the first 500 years after the death of Christ, mass baptisms were done nude."

Not Everyone Is Welcomed At The Kingdom Hall

i knew of a couple that left their mates so that they could be with one another.

the elders promptly disfellowshipped them.

the couple made it known immediately, that they were going to apply for reinstatement as soon as possible.

Did anyone here ever know of someone that was actually BANNED from going into the Kingdom Hall?

No...............not even the unrepentant pedophile that abused my kid and would sit and stare my child out at the meetings after I got df'ed for supposed slander of his fleshly brother.

And not even after abusing my kid and playing with other children in the hall.

I would have appreciated the elders banning that pig from the hall but he was protected and supported while my family was shunned and humiliated.

Call me bitter...............thank god I'm out.

What Is The Stupidest Rule You've Encountered As a Witness?

one rule that i never could understand is that if you were studying with an unbelieving husband, you could associate with him, even as couples, but if a person was considered a "weak" witness, it was best to avoid any association until that person changed......what dumb rule or belief comes to your mind??
