when someone demands *unconditional love*, is that not a condition in and of itself?.

I agree with Matty: I think people are just generally not forgiving enough.
Unconditional love is a myth. It is unrealistic to expect it. Everyone has a line, once that line is crossed....
I find that I am much happier in my life by being forgiving of others. I don't intentionally hurt the people I love, but I'm sure I have at one time or another. I only hope they are compassionate enough to forgive me and give me the opportunity to make it up to them.
the other night i was at my in-laws house for dinner.
they are both jehovah's witnesses and try every now and then to plant some thoughts in our heads to get us concerned.
this night was no exception, with small words and phrases popping up through the evening.
I used to do the same thing... such and such happened, the end is coming, oh what to do what to do. I find that life is so much more enjoyable now that I don't read into everything that happens.
Shortly after 9/11, my father pleaded with me, "Armageddon is almost here, how can you not see that, why don't you want to be a JW when you KNOW it is the truth?" I just smiled, hugged him and told him I loved him.

i will start.... number 1) two people have to witness a sin before it is reported to the superior authorities....making me the org the last word in all areas.. the most stupid rule gets to post it once the gb has judged it the most stupid?

How about not celebrating the birth of your children because only two birthdays were mentioned in the bible and someone was killed at both of them. I don't know about you, but I want my kids to know how happy I am that they are here, and NO "the day of their death will not be better than the day of their birth", I think I have a little to do with what kind of person they grow up to be.
what is the sweetest or nicest thing somebody of the opposite sex has ever said or done for you?
or what would you want somebody of the opposite sex to say or do to you to make you all happy inside?
i'm not looking for sexual things here just things that make you stop and go "ahh how nice".

My story huh? Not much to tell.
I left about four and a half years ago. I wasn't df'd or da'd, just walked away and kept walking. I am so glad I'm out. I've got two kids, that was one of the reasons I left, I didn't want them growing up the same way I did.
My mother and father are still in, just last weekend I finally told them my reasons for leaving. Believe it or not, they're more supportive than I thought they would be.
my son's b/f and his mom stopped by tonite and his mom and i got to talking about religion and all the rules we got so sick of.
she is pentecost, and admits that they have to many dumb rules too, just as jw's do.
she is a faithful church goer, twice on sunday, she sings in choir.
I know what you mean. I remember in high school one of my friends asked me if I was going to be a witness when I grew up. I said "Yes", I was stunned by the question, I couldn't think of any other life. Now, I can't fathom going back to that kind of life.
When I tell people I used to be a JW, alot of them are suprised because I am not the kind of person who accepts being told what to do or think. I feel foolish for living in a state of constant guilt/fear for so long and accepting that as right, all in the name of religion. I always thought it was wrong to believe we were better than everyone else because we had the "true" religion and everyone else was bad association. I remember thinking "what ever happened to equality?"
I'm glad to be out and thinking for myself.
