Baby's "second head" removed -- no moral issues described?
by AlmostAtheist inin this news article, a baby is described as being born with a second head, referred to as "the parasite".
as a parent, i would have had a hard time looking at this under-developed conjoined twin as a "parasite".
it really looks like a second child, though one incapable of independant life.

See this month's Scientific American on age and expansion of the universe. In short, light will not travel faster than usual but space can expand faster than the light that is travelling toward you without violating the special or general relativity principle. That is how an object can be billions of light years away and at the same time be only billions of years old. If they started out in a big bang-i.e. close to you, how is it you are seeing billion year old light from billions of light years away. As the light travelled to you, space expanded away from you very fast and over time, the light finally caught up with you. This results in an ever-growing horizon of what you will see. It also means the most distant 14 billion light year objects are actually now 46 billion light years away. This article is : "Misconceptions about the Big Bang" by Charles H Lineweaver and Tamara M. Davis from the Mount Stromlo Observatory near Canberra, Australia. If I could have figured out how to include the illustrations it would be more clear. Things are very old indeed.

Change in application to Luke 21:28?
by FairMind inluke 21:28 tells us that christians living during the time of the fulfillment of the prophecies showing that the end of this system was near were to hold their heads erect as their deliverance was near.
or at least this is the way the wts has always explained this scriptural passage.
last night, our visiting co mentioned in that this is no longer the way we interpret this scripture and that our past understanding was incorrect.

According to the 1/15/05 WT p. 19 paragraph 17 it is the same: "In fact, when the great tribulation strikes, they will joyfully 'raise themselves erect and lift their heads up, because they know their deliverance is near.'-Luke 21:28"

Hurting so bad here in Ohio...don't know where to turn to
by FreedomFrog indoes anyone know of a forum i can go to to get lots of support?
cheeko's death has hit me pretty hard.
i'm looking for a forum for ones who have lost close pets.

Hey FreedomFrog, hang in there. Even if it takes a while you'll remember your pet with fondness. Every pet we get is gonna be the last one after a death but that feeling doesn't last long. I'm facing putting a beautiful dog down sometime this year and it's unbearable. This part wolf goes way back some fifteen years with me and carries a lot of memories, especially of my first wife (deceased). Still have amazon parrots one of which is decades old. Hope this loss eases soon. Dave

Thanks. I remember one ot the authors, Bubba Rom Das from the seventies. He's dead now but was associated for a while with the Beatles' guru and Timothy Leary. Come to think of it , Timothy Leary's dead, too. (Wasn't that a song from the Moody Blues--Timothy Leary's dead, no he's on the outside looking in, which is appropitate now since some of his ashes are in orbit.) What's my point? I don't have one, just remembering.

Jw view of resurrection: will it be you who is resurrected???
by chuckyy ini have always had a problem even when a jw with the wtbs view on the bodily resurrection.
if your body is destroyed following death, and there is no soul, what then is being resurrected???.
?.....its a new body and only a recording of your thoughts that was in gods memory that is put into this new body......how can it truly be the same person???

If time is a timescape and composed of tiny time particles, at your death it could be recorded at which unit you were dead. Then, upon resurrection remove the particles between the 2 events and there you have it. Continuity. Of course, then it could be said there is no continuity anyway even in your original life or in any other event if time is a discrete particle indivisible beyond its Heisenburg limit.
