I put your dilemma to a friend that works with victims of abuse and she said that for you to report the case to the police without the victims knowledge or consent could be potentially damaging to them. Given poor conviction rates the court experience can be traumatising and she feels the decision to report lies with the victims.

I have to ask... if you're such a laid-back guy, how did you get to be an elder at 20? You normally have to be a fascist little zealot to achieve that so young!
..can anyone think of a good reason why marriage shouldn't be extended to everyone else regardless of other relationship?
should an elderly couple of sisters living in the same house be married to give them the same rights of property etc..?

Your issue is really with inheritance tax, not civil partnerships.

If you insist on resigning, they cannot stop you, you just have to persist and that doesn't necessarly require confrontation just the knowledge that you know what you're doing is right for you and your family. I don't know if you told them that you are on anti-depressants, but that may get them to realise your are serious about resigning.
You're on your way out and it's time to start dancing to your own tune.
did you ever feel bad for your kids that they couldnt celebrate holidays, birthdays, salute the flag, etc.
i am sure looking back now it must hurt somewhat and maybe you feel bad, but did you ever feel bad when you believd it was the true religion?

Growing up as a Witness I can't say I ever felt that I was missing out on birthdays/Christmas/saluting the flag(who would want to do that is beyond me!) etc. But I guess that's kudos to my parents, however misguided they were religiously, they managed to give me and my brothers a great childhood.
I still couldn't care less about my birthday although my partner and friends do I've managed to invert tradition and on my birthday I arrange a surprise for them. This year they're going on a mystery trip, last year they were taken for a midnight walk through a forest illuminated as an art installation and had no clue where they were going until we got there. It's fun and I'm happy to do it any day of the year.

why not just leave and not have any further contact with the witnesses?
is there some legitimate legal reason for this or do people do this because the witness thinking has overtaken their logic?
You don't need to disassociate yourself for them to leave you alone. Just tell them to eff off and they don't harass you. I resigned as an elder, stopped going to meetings two weeks later and accepted 2 sheperding visits before saying enough was enough and that if I wanted help I'd call them.
No need to hide or turn it into a circus.

I'm really disappointed with it. Too many bland boys & girls, repetitive flash backs and plodding dialogue. Ooh doesn't everyone have a tearful secret. And the endless supply of fresh clothes and hair product is astounding. Maybe it's supplied by the polar bear's boutique managed by the French woman.

Yeh, we had a meeting like that. The elders advertised it for a fortnight emphasizing it was important for everyone to be there. Turned out to be a talk warning them all to stay away from little old me, the fallen and dangerous ex-elder that was sowing seeds of discontent - not that they mentioned my name, just described me.
So watch out Captain, it could be all about you...
