Tricky one. Depends how long you've been out... and your family still sees you but think you're celibate... doesn't sound like you're close to them. But like other's have said, it's her problem, not yours and there's no guarantee she'll marry this guy so there may be no monetary saving anyway.

ex wants to be free to remarry - ugh
by No Apologies inok, i'm sure i am not the first one to be in this predicament but it sure is a headache, my jw ex called a few days ago, apparently she has met someone (they're not dating of course!
) and she wants to me to hand over the golden ticket.
she wants confirmation either in writing or verbally to a third party, that she is "scripturally free" to remarry.. i have managed for years now to avoid any judicial action and my jw family members still associate with me, but that all could come to a screeching halt if i give her what she wants.. the only bright side is she totally robbed me on the divorce; if she gets married i am at least off the hook for "spousal maintenance", that would mean potentially thousands of dollars in my pocket.... .

Give Your Advice To Anyone Planning To Fade
by minimus inlist some thoughts and suggestions for anyone thinking about fading from the organization..

Preferably establish a social life outside the JWs then just stop attending. Refuse to discuss your reasons. Put your ego on hold for a while and remember that you have no control over how people react but you have total control as to how you respond. Bite your tongue.
It's much easier if your are single.

MY LYING MOTHER IN LAW
by iknowall558 inthis is not a thread to gain sympathy.
my life has changed dramatically over the weekend.
my husband (hoboken) has just left me and my two boys.. i'm not going to divulge all the details, but needless to say things are very tough emotionally for all of us.

Sorry to read that this has happened to you Lorraine, I can only imagine the turmoil you'll be going through. You're right that focussing on the boys is your priority and in light of that I'd give writing a letter to your MiL a miss. This is your opportunity to walk even further away from an organisation and people that have hurt you, don't dignify them with your time, instead immerse yourself in the support you've found elsewhere. Giving them an earfull just feeds them.

Variants north of the border would be to replace sausages with Lorne sausage, add tattie scones and a slice of fried fruit loaf although I've never been offered the latter outside of Glasgow. Oh and a grilled half tomato (that nobody ever eats).

I am having some reservations about Barbara Anderson
by JWoods inrecently, there was a very nice thread in which one of our posters apologized for having the temerity to challenge barbara anderson.. i thought it was very nice to see that they made up and put the personal stuff aside.. however, i felt the need to call it like i really feel it - i was very put off by the barbara anderson reply in which she plugged her new promotional meeting.
it brought back memories of that horrid little affair from a couple of years back when she kept posting up "the greatest new thing about blood which will bring down the watchtower society is just around the corner -- and i could tell you but then i would have to kill you, etc."..
just like another jehovah's witnesses prophecy about the coming of the lord in our time.. i am beginning to wonder if perhaps the siren song of self-promotion is getting a little too strong for real life.. ok. i said it.. james - and saying it was not the easiest thing that i have ever done.

Well before it does I'd ask Barbara to keep posting here and rise above James Woods' infantile posting. You're a name, with a profile and have a record of forcing change within the WT so unfortunately you have to ignore this sort of thing.

I spent the evening with Barbara recently. She's an intelligent (and attractive) person with a whole lot of spark about here and a very interesting background. The work she does will I'm sure make a difference and I really didn't get the impression of her being ego-driven.
You go girl!

Ouija Board Hysteria
by Megachusen ini always wondered why jw's were always so afraid of ouija(pronounced as "wee-yaw" not "wee-gee") boards.
does anyone have any speculation about who started these jw myths?.
anyone who has actually tried the board and would like to give their opinions are welcome.

I thought that the myth was that they burned, but with a "cold" heat. lol

I tried it with some friends a few years ago. One of them had apparently had some previous success. It was hilarious, just like Blithe Spirit with our own Madame Arcati! Nothing happened. I think our friend was normally aided by drugs, and on this occasion our fun was merely fuelled by Cheeky Vimtos. It was fun transgressing another JW taboo.
