they knew he was severely depressed & yet continued to harass this man, to the point where something so horrible, so unspeakable happened.

the thing was he had just been councilled about keeping his hours up and the elders warned him he would be removed if he didn't improve. he was working two jobs, supporting his wife and three kids, one of which was having unidentified seizure problems, and he had been 'invited' that day to work with the PO. He was under alot of stress that JWs put on him, and if they had not been in the equation, none of it would have happened like that anyway.

Lori Pacheco(sorry cant remember her married name) died in late 80's-early 90's of rare disease because she refused blood. Left loving husband and two or three children. I grew up with her in So. NJ
all of these and more were on a website called Watchtower Victims Memorial--not sure if it is still around, but it was a good idea and if it is not--someone should start it up again.

here's something fun to think about.... since being da or df or just not going to meetings, have you readjusted your language?.
i'm taking about "going back" to saying things like.... "wow, you were lucky.".

J-Double-Speak is the first thing to go. Why speak a language no one else understands? It identifies you with JWs--but of course only to yourself since no one else in the whole friggin Universe knows what the F you are saying. So why even waste your time trying to maintain a dead language? when I left JWs I was truly born again---I was a new born in a big bad world. It was what I imagine having a serious stroke would be like--trying to learn everything--but not 'over again' --for the first time! Lucky for adult humans it does not take 20 yrs to catch up!

for those of you who were jehovah's witnesses back in the late 70s and early 80s, did any of you ever destroy your records/lps or cassette tapes after one of those talks at an assembly about 'demonic music', 'backwards masking' and so on?
i remember i had some records destroyed, but i couldn't do it.
The last two years I was 'in' I owned a home in Vermont just minutes from the ski slopes and I was very popular with the bethelites who needed a place to stay...and they liked my cd collections too...every week end I had 'guests' you could hear Faith No More and Nine Inch Nails blasting all the way down the street.

I played Pat Benatar's Wuthering Heights backwards and it said 'listen to the evil slave'. really.
I thot it was cool, but my father made me destroy it. About a week later my sister and I were dragged into an investigative committee by some other elder's slutty daughter who claimed my sister could levitate things across the room and that we played albums backwards. This girl had never even been over to our house so i dont know where any of that crap came from. it was laughable.

my husband's parents are open to a discussion about our doubts as long as we do not offer them anything except information from the nwt and the watchtower publications.

This is taken from a letter I wrote my 'anointed' father last August.
**If there was one single thing that took me out, it was a careful study(with no ulterior motive--as it was something I just came upon accidentally) of Revelation 7: 9 and 11 in the WTBS' own Kingdom Interlinear. Briefly, in verse 9 it is talking about the Great Crowd, and in verse 11 it is talking about the angels. Now unless the angels are going to be on the Earth, the Great Crowd is in Heaven. The Greek word that identifies where these two groups are is exactly the same. There is not degrees of 'before the throne' indicated here, nor does the Greek word used support that stretch of a theory(for this I spoke with a professor of ancient languages at Harvard). There are other Greek words that could have been used to differentiate a different place, but that is not how the inspired writer wrote it. It says that the angels, in the circle of throne-Heaven, will worship in the same place as the Great Crowd-who came OUT of the Earth--and that place is before the throne. This is not talking about the 144,000. Verse 14 reiterates the place where the Great Crowd are, using the phrase again-and adds the phrase 'in the divine habitation of him'---so now WTBS would have us believe that not only do the angels come down to the Earth to worship but that God himself lives here? I know they explain it that his tent will spread over the Earth---but that is not what the SCRIPTURE says. The scripture says that the Great Crowd will join him in his tent. No where does it indicate that this tent will be on Earth. No where. And the logic that they use to say that his tent will be extended to the Earth is flawed logic, making scripture fit WTBS' own dogma. THAT is criminal. To manipulate the Word of God in order to cover your own butts! It sickens me.**

as most all of you know, i am a vietnam veteran, serving with c troop 7/17th air cavalry from july of 1969 to january 1, 1971. i have heard before that the bond formed by combat veterans is forever.
i can now say that is a true statement.
when first assigned to c troop, i met a man by the name of ron strickland and we hit it off as buddies, becoming best friends, in my estimation.

on the last page of my webpage( http://www.geocities.com/ladylvsnyt/page_3.html ) are pictures of my father in law and his best friend Danny. Danny died in Dec of 1967. I found his cousin online last year and have corresponded with him and he has spoken with my father in law by telephone a couple of times. My father in law has still not been able to visit the Wall, but we know where Danny is on it.
I don't really know why but I have some kind of connection to the whole viet nam experience, I was just a little JW kid, but I feel so much pride when I think of men who went there. I can't really explain it.

outside of the JW context, being called a sheep is an insult in most other contexts. I did not know this until I got out from the JW script.

i was wondering, since i was raised a jw, will i ever get rid of the mindset of being a jw.
i have been out for 12yrs, but still find that certain things i say, or think, or react to remind me of being a jw.
like with the current things going on with iraq and the us.
jgnat, I can understand that, and of course the bad experiences we have do become a part of who we are(whether they happened in the JW context or some other). But I was thinking that she was talking more about the doctrinal brain washing and thought patterns rather than the trauma.
