so i went to the bar again tonight for my 4th appearance at the open mic comedy event.
my last three sets went fine, got plenty of laughs, and i felt good about them.
tonight i thought some folks from work were going to be there so i was using old material that had worked previously.

I'm a little late to the subject... but.. if anyone is looking for a mega easy game to play.. try Fate. It's downloadable, you can try it for free and then pay $10 if you want to keep playing. It's kind of a Diablo meets fisher price It's a basic dungeon game that's great when you are braindead or just want to kill some time.

It's an inexpensive way to try out dungeon running, for those who are new to gaming.
We just picked up Vanguard and have been playing it all week. It's an online RPG that has some really detailed crafting, harvesting and diplomacy as well as adventuring. So far we really like it, except that it's new and therefore buggy as hell, as well as laggy.. if they get that sorted out I may give up WoW alltogether .. but I'm keeping Guild Wars.

i have not been a big believer in the supernatural.
this isn't because the subject holds no interest for me; it's because i've not had many personal experiences to prompt such belief.
i've always been willing to listen to the experiences of others, and while there've been times i've been fascinated with some of them, usually i think they're figments of the imagination.

if jesus could find someone at work(matt 9:9; mark 1:16-21) and ask them to be a follower without having to go over 164,000 questions(just kidding a little bit) to see if they qualify to be a publisher of the good news, why do jw's do this?
the same for baptism; the ethiopian eunoch did not, according to scripture, go over a bunch of questions to be baptized, so why?
To be sure they are thoroughly indoctrinated...aka brainwashed.. into the org. Why else? If you just baptise anyone off the street you might inadvertantly let in someone who thinks for themselves... couldn't have that!!!

i'll start.. i'm fixin' file' chicken 'n sausage gumbo w/"cajun ice cream," a green salad and cheesy garlic bread.. crabby pants has already begun his "pre-mealtime throat clearings" from the kitchen aromas.. frannie.
We eat a lot of mexican food.. favorite way to make meat for tacos, burritos, whatever: brown up chunks of beef, put in crockpot with some salsa.. let it cook alllll day. Yum! Also good with pork and green sauce.
We are having periogies for dinner tonight, with a spinach salad on the side. We eat a lot of italian food, too
In fact, after reading this thread.. I think I'll go make dinner right now!!!

i hope it's alright that i post a question, even though i've never had any affiliation with jw organization.
i have a friend who has been trying to convince me for years to study with jw.
i've been doing alot of research on jw and was just wondering if people here would be kind enough to tell me why they have decided to quit their affiliation with jw organization.
Here's a great site: http://www.reexamine.org/quotes/ It uses their own literature to show what's wrong with them. It doesn't draw conclusions for you, it just quotes their stuff.
One big "stumbling block" for me was the treatment, or lack thereof, of pedophiles. They require two witnesses to even disfellowship a child molester.. how many abusers will abuse in front of a witness? Then, if they are convinced of a child molesters guilt they will take away their priveleges.. reprove them, etc. but they do not report them to the police, and they do not allow the congregation to be informed of the nature of the monster in their midst.
I know one woman, with children, who almost married a JW man who had a history of molesting children. A friend found out about his past and let her know. The elders in her hall knew of his past and that they were dating and that she had children, yet they chose not to tell her. Why? It would be considered slander. If it was discovered that her friend told her, the friend could be disfellowshiped for slander. I don't know about you, but to me this mess does not sound like it's under God's direction.
