Saudi Arabians crack down on western party

recently in saudi arabia the moral police cracked down on a party organised and attended by westerners.

two hundred people were arrested and charged with violations of the law because of 1. drinking alcohol 2. unmarried men and women were freely mixing together 3. men and women were dancing indecently.

finally the 20 party organisers were prosecuted and condemned to receiving lashes and prison time though they can appeal.

Sounds like they have been taking lessons from the Elders.. or visa versa...

I remember friends getting in trouble for the exact same reasons.. alchohol, dancing "lewdly" and mixing freely with members of the opposite sex. And this was the '80's and 90's!

Update... Re my dad scriptual divorce

well i thought i better give an update of some events that have happened over the last few weeks with to a post that i put her about how to get a scriptual divoce on no grounds.. was i in for a wide awakening i had a father daughter chat with my dad and it seems that back in july/august last year he was slightly a naughty boy and was 'privately reproved' and that he only just told me on a visit just a few weeks ago.

well was i shocked that this had happen and that if he had told me earlier i think i would have been able to get my head around alot of things a bit easier.. so now i know how he got a scriptual divorce.. anyway this solved one of the mysteries that i had, but then it opened a huge problem that my so called witness brother put an allegation to the elders that he was dating someone before he was legally divorced and that they wanted the ins and outs of why he was privately reproved and that it should have been made public if not df (even though they very rarely attend meetings and that they are in complete different congs).

so then my dad had to face the elders in his cong and now what suppose to have been a smooth transition has now been a big delemia to the point of his fiancee is ready to walk away and that they even have had to postpone the wedding till when, no one knows.. even i can't believe that all this is happening.

What a mess!! This kind of situation is complicated enough without involving religion.. let alone when you allow religion to dictate how it turns out.

Take lots of deep breaths, be glad you can see it from the outside instead of being in the center.

A few years from now this will all be history. Try not to worry about things you can't change (easier said than done, I know!)

Dinosaurs?

i was very curious about dinosaurs as a child.

what was jehovah's purpose for them?

my mother used to say that they were used to prepare the earth for living, you know, like mulch and stuff.

I've always wanted to know why they had dinos on the inside of the cover of the Green NWT? Anybody else remember that? I used to look at those for hours as a kid.. maybe that's what it was for, keeping us poor bored kids occupied during neverending talks.

So.. anybody know why they had pictures of dinosaurs in the Bible?

Quick Birthday Question...

so, it was my daughter's birthday on the 2nd of february.. she is being raised jw and i sent her an email birthday card.. i get this note as a response: (mind you, it may be from her mother).

I agree with Snickers (Welcome!!) She may have sent the email under motherly influence. Don't write her off yet as far as birthdays are concerned. She is trying to figure out what she really wants and which direction she wants to go. Just do what your heart tells you is right and when the time comes and she is ready to reject the religion.. you will be there to support her, which will make it much easier on her.

I know it's frustrating but try to remember how unclear life was to you at that age. Nothing makes sense and all your feelings are contradictory when you are 12 (at least for girls.. I can't speak for the boys )
