Re: What do you do for a living?
by MARTINLEYSHON inas many of you are aware being brought up in the organisation, there was a general directive from the wt that secular education was good, but not encouraged as far as university and further education was concerned.
many witnesses left school in the 70s with no formal qualifications.
my question therefore is 2 fold.. 1. what would you have liked to become as far as your career is concerned?.

I would have liked to be a Forensic Scientist. But I could only afford to go to 2 years of college.
Now I work as a Designer/Lead engineer. I design high end retail store interiors. (Tommy Hilifiger, Caoch, Tiffany's, Bloomingdales, Pottery Barn.. etc.)

This wasn't said at the Kingdom Hall, but came out of my JW sister's mouth. A few years ago, a young couple who had just started studying with the JW's was shot to death one night in their car as they were stopped at an intersection. I was talking about it with my sisterand she says, "You know, thier actually better off now. At least now the have a chance of being resurrected. If they were still alive and just studying, they would have destroyed at armageddon because they weren't babtised." I was floored. That was the most cruel and heartltess thing I've ever heard someone say.

Well I had my surgery on Friday. I don't know what I was so nervous about, It wasn't bad at all. I'm a little sore but the pain meds help alot. I got my biopsy results back yesterday and the lumps were benign fibroadenomas. I cried when the doctor told me the results. I was soooo relieved. This whole experience made me appreciate life so much more. Thanks to everyone who gave me support.

When you were a JW true believer, what were you most afraid of?
by under_believer init's been pretty well established that all religions use fear as a motivator, to some degree.
the jw's have honed this practice to a near art form.
what were you most afraid of when you were a jw?

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE/WORST STUDY BOOK?
by badboy inwhich ones did you hate and which ones did you like out of the study books?
-
liquidsky
I haven't been to a book study since 1997 and I think we were studying the "greatest man" book at that time. That one was tolerable. I hated the 'Revelation' book and that little blue book. (the 'worship' book?) I can't even remember the name.

Your eating habits
by greendawn intell us about your eating habits, are you health conscious do you avoid synthetic additives in food such as artificial flavours and preservatives and generally all processed food, are you vegetarian, vegan, do you buy organic food out of fear of pesticides, do you eat too much, do you go on diets often etc .
i was shocked to read somewhere that 90% of the food americans eat is processed.
it saves time using such food but....

I eat whatever I like. Alot of fruits and veggies & stirfry's.
I looooove mangos & fresh papaya.
During the summer I cook outside on the grill almost every night, chicken, fish, prawns, steaks.... mmmmmm!
I hardly eat processed foods, but it's almost impossible to cut that out my diet totally. I like to have have a piece of Jello no-bake cheesecake every once in while. =)
