~Beloved landmarks from your hometown~
by FlyingHighNow inwhen i was almost seven, we moved from the gulf coast town of mobile, alabama to morgan city, louisiana.
on brashear avenue, which was also highway 90, the gulf coast hwy, going towards the now old atchafalaya bridge, there was a shrimp boat in the middle of the road called the spirit of morgan city.
at christmas time they decorated it with a santa on the front and his reindeer out front, as if it were santa's mode of transportation through cajun country, rather than his regular sleigh.

How I'm helping hubby see the truth! Seems to be working too!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by cognac in(i do not take credit for this, i stole a lot of it from somebody online.
) the red is some of what i wrote out, then the black is what happened after... .
i would like us both to feel a sense of freedom to open up and discuss any and all subjects.

Nothing we discuss together as a couple should be discussed with anybody else unless we both agree to it.
I hope you take this into consideration when share things about your personal relationship with your husband to the members of this board. Is he aware that you come here? And how would he feel if he read some the things you posted about him and you and your relationship? That being said, I think that studying together with him is an excellent way for you to show him the truth, so I wish you the the best of luck. Just remember, that you have to be honest with him as well.

First rock concert
by JK666 ini have recently talked with other members on jwd about the first time they went to a concert.
it was interesting the different choices of artists, and the age we were when we finally went to one.. my first was after i got my driver's license, so i was 16 years old.
i went to see a concert with black oak arkansas, foghat, and montrose (when sammy hagar was just a pup).

Has anyone read the book 'The Shining'?
by lfcviking ini'm not much of a reader really, but i'm halfway through reading this book at the moment and i am really enjoying it.
stephen king has such a wild imagination, he really is a truly talented man.. i loved the film aswell, i think jack nicholson's acting in this film is sublime.
jack's acting combined with king's imagination, and stanley kubrick's directing combine to form a true masterpiece.. any other fans of this book/film?.

I haven't read it either. I tried to read a couple of Stephen King books... The Dreamcatcher & Needful Things. Couldn't finish them. Not that I don't like scary... I'm reading World War Z (Zombie) right now and it's really scary! Great read... You should give it a try.
I think it's just Spehen Kings writing style that I find alittle borish.

Remember when assemblies were fun?
by Aphrodite ini just remembered when i was a kid and we would go to the assembly, it was fun because we got to buy new clothes and put extra effort into looking good.
when we would get there you could save your seats and even save some for your friends, then go off looking for them.. i used to love our circuit assembly because of the food.
it was at the assembly hall and there was a big kitchen, some of my favourite brothers worked in that kitchen, sometimes i was allowed to go in and help.

I liked assemblies and conventions when I was a kid. At the assemblies, ice cream was always served at lunchtime. And they had a a little mini orchestra to play the music for the songs. During the last 15 minutes of lunch the musicians always played music until it was time to start. I'd sit on the 1st step of the platform and watch them play. I was really dissapointed when they fired all the musicians and switched over to cd's. As a teenager, I liked to vonlunteer at the conventions making and serving lunch. It gave me something to do during the day besides walking around aimlessly. Plus I got to meet alot of people. Once they got rid of the food and live music, assemblies and conventions became a huge bore. I feel sorry for all the kids that have to sit and listen to lectures all day with nothing to look forward too.

All the time. Last spring I was pulling weeds under one of the large front windows of the house, and I found a big pile of dead birdies. =(. Poor things.
