  bugs in your head...

  are you scratching your head just reading the title??....lol....

  head lice is running like a wild grass fire in our neck of the woods and i am scared to death of having to pick through my hair.... in the past, i have never been to worried since the boys always had their hair so short it was not a big threat in our house hold but, with the long hair in style now and one of my sons has grown his, i worry that he may pick it up and i will not be happy....... with school also starting in 2 weeks, we always have the big scare in the schools as well.... so,my question to you all is...... what have you heard that works well as a preventive method?.

  i have heard vinegar and tee tree oil works.??

  Hey Morty. I remember all too well back in Atlantic Canada, undergoing that hideous in-class inspection by our health nurse.

  Of course, little did I know, you could not only catch head lice; head lice love CLEAN hair.

  Morty my dear. You've seen me in-person; I've seen you in-person.

  Just the same, I do recall that there were things such as Xandria mentioned: nit combs. There is also a special shampoo.

  But...I do recall the vinegar as a means of drying up the 'nits'. I do not know if it actually got rid of the lice. (the insect)

  We had a horrible outbreak back east when I was in elementary/junior high. I would go home everyday and soak my head in warm water and vinegar. It drove me crazy!

  Also, the stigmatism associated with head lice. Good heavens!

  Talk to the boys, see what they're comfortable with. Just because something is 'in' doesn't mean that the former style doesn't resurface. Most trends/styles are recycled. But the short hair is A-OK. It's easier, that's for sure, to combat head lice....IF....it should happen. But head lice can happen anywheres. Give southern Ontario's 3 month heatwave, the little critters have had plenty of time to breed and make themselves readily available for head-to-head transport.

  I'm keeping my hair short. No room for anything more than a headache.

  Oh that last JW strongholds for me, now long gone.

  Would I give? Yes. Can I? Yes. Am I allowed to? No.

  Like Lady Lee, I too have a B12 deficiency. Also, the 'gay' factor eliminates me here, immediately, despite my HIV negative test (recently).

  I'm rh negative, so initially, they were thrilled to have someone A Negative. But once the questions were asked etc., they were unable to allow me to donate. They were saddened by this. Me too.

  If you can donate, that's great. It shows how far we've come now doesn't it?

  If I needed it, I'd be OK with it. Also, I know family/friends that are A Negative, so if I can get them in a pinch, I'm set.

  Also, I can still do autologous donation for MY OWN operations. So I can donate, but it's strictly for myself.

  i have been reading a lot here and there the past year about humanism, etc...and i am curious who else on this board that have left jwism has gone that route?.

  it took me a few years, but this is where i am at now, and i have been looking into local groups in my area (dallas, tx) that meet together.

  i will probably be going in september when the next meeting is.

  I find that groups from my experience tend to get uneven; I prefer my own gathering of one. Self.

  Usually, upon the coming together of peoples for some common good or help, I'm almost guaranteed to come into contact with a fellow humanist.

  It's good for you; it takes a bit of getting used to. You don't spread it on as thick as you would peanut butter. Start off as what has been mentioned before. It has a wide variety of B vitamins. Also, you ever wonder why those AUSSIES kick ass at the Olympics???

  folks, i seldom use my alloted topic starters, but i chose to start one with a specific member in-mind.. outnfree: outnfree (she has an interesting way of utilizing capital letters/none at all).. ok...i am having a hard time not giving this woman, some big time credit.. she's a lovely woman.. i've met her; i've hung out with her more than a few times on both sides of the canada/usa border.. she's extremely kind; thoughtful, balanced and very wise.

  i sometimes wish i could be there in suburban detroit to show her how much i appreciate the good she inspires.

  i have been a rocker' extreme, yes..had a mohawk, promoted punk shows here in toronto back in the 90s; promoted other rock bands as well in conjunction with punk bands from 2000-2002.. any queer/gay/bi/whatever your pc label is, that rocked?.
