Thinking of becoming a Witness again and my reasons for doing so :(

i've been a faded jw for 10 years i left because of my failed first marriage, i'm no hypocrite and realised i had left completely so i embraced the world and dived in, only christmas and birthdays i could not get into, they were too foreign to me having never celebrated them, like if i suddenly tried to do ramadan or something like that.. 1/ all the criticisms of the people in the truth you say on here, i've found in the world, warts and all only in the world nothing holds them back from being utterly horrible to you.. 2/ i got stabbed by a worldly boyfriend, i got married 2 times of my own choosing to men outside the truth, the first smoked and was an alcoholic, the second gambled every penny we had and defrauded me out of money after we separated, 2 divorces later i am currently pregnant and a single mum since current boyfriend decided kids was to much of a responsibility and he needed his freedom and i was 'too selfish to expect him to give up his life'.. 3/ parents-in-law!

i have been shunned by them as equal to anything you accuse witness families of and for the silliest of reasons, i had a disabled son and his grandparents said they wanted nothing to do with him because they didn't want to become attached in case he died.. 4/ i miss the honest friendships of the truth, i had friends of all ages from 14 to 80 years old and they genuinely cared for me, many trying to keep me in the faith a long time after i left but i was determined to fade so moved away completely, but i find friendships in the world so shallow in comparison and very hard to sustain :( i've never been a drinker and sometimes thats what friendship means you being a companion for them to goto pub with.. 5/ my recent boyfriend was in a christian religion, i thought why not find out about it, harvest churches if you ever heard of them, unfortunately it still hasn't stop him leaving me pregnant and alone and when i said to him how does he clear that with god, he replies "as long as i repent it doesn't matter" it's like he has a "get out of jail free card" for any wrong-doing in the bible, this is so alien to me and my witness trained conscience.. 6/ i recently out of frustration tried looking into atheism and joined their forums, it wasn't fun, they are as bombastic and arrogant as their religious counterparts can be from any religion, they make a religion out of not believing in god, it's very weird they talk of saving people from believing in god and offer nothing to replace it.

they said to me "be happy you are in reality now and enjoy it" and i thought "well if this is reality i've had enough of it".

I'm not so much a movie/film affeciando, but I know many are.

Music is more my forte.

I've been delving back deep into music I once used to listen to not only as a little boy, but also the time while a JW (1977-1984); post-JW and of course, years leading up closer to where I am now.

Any recommendations?

I noticed on some threads, that some YouTube videos started right away; I liked that. I could listen and watch the video or snippet of a particular sketch or movie in-synch with the thread topic.

Superb!

I am particularly fond of Peter Gabriel's "DIGGING IN THE DIRT" - the lyrics and video - still send shivers through me and can still move me emotionally.

Canadian: Craig Cardiff does similarly with the song: "God Said No".

Anyone care to share?

I'm sure other members of this forum will appreciate it.

My JW mother passed away

so much has happen over the pass years since i posted on this forum.

three years ago i posted my first topic about my mother, she passed away recently.

it still hurts to lose a mother, someone who gave you birth and raised you the best she could.

My condolences.

I am impressed with your dedication with the care you gave to your ailing mother.

You can have a clear conscience.

But it still does not make it easy.

When I think of some of the posts on here that get so much attention, it's easy for us to let the 'important' notices slide.

People need to be acknowledged for their loss.

I am acknowledging yours.

In Memory of Puternut

after reading the news about puternut, i decided to compile some of his posts into one, so we can all share in his memory.

there are many ups and downs listed below, but i ended it off with a post he made to all of us who helped him during his difficult times.

puternut is starting his life over, because i had nothing left, and needed to move on.

As I readjust here to being back on here; it's very unnerving to realize how 'lives' function outside of our own, somewhere around this globe.

To read of his demise, well...geez...it's beyond too late to express condelences.

Thanks for the update, even if it's almost 2 years old.

Hey CC, yes, Gary Larson certainly had contemporary life depicted oh-so appropriately.

I was going for something else; I'm sure you see what I mean now.

But I had a dog named Ginger as well; she listened. I could have at least got some sort of sense or response from her.

there's so many new names here.. i had been off of this site for approximately 2.5 years.. i returned, and realized, there's many names that i no longer recognize.. syn: not sure if many of the old timers remember, but he was a blast!.

he was originally based out of south africa and then ended up in australia.. has anyone heard from him?.

is he ok?.

My life flashed before my eyes yesterday.. close call.

i leave for work later now than i did for many years - i now leave the house at 3:30 am for work.

it is very dark of course.

sunday morning - about 2 miles south of my home, i was traveling a state hi-way, good, dry conditions, probably right at the limit - 55 mph.

Glad you acted and drove responsibly.

Who knows how those cows/bovine got out onto the road.

I'm pleased you cared enough to call EMS (911) and make sure (even the least of us), the cows were hopefully directed to safer grounds or their rightful owners.

Up here in Canada (U.S.A. too) - the worst collisions are with: moose

Moose can weigh a ton. Have that come up into your windshield while driving at 100/120 kph - is a recipe for disaster.

Glad that you got to work OK; glad you called the authorities.

You probably eliminated a horrendous collision and loss of life on both sides of the mammalian quotient.
