Am I alone in thinking this way?

my wife and i were talking about something the other day while we were driving and we were discussing some point about boards like this one.

boards that are populated by ex-jws.

in the conversation we got to wondering some things, and wondered if others felt or wondered the same.

Very interesting and lengthy read. One reason I like this board, well...you gave me a good one with simply reading your post.

Differentiating points of views; provocative questions; new information ; humour; linking up with people whom have at least, shared to some degree, and involvement with the WTBTS.

"Why do you come to these board, how long to you plain to stay?"

I would have to say, I come to these boards to link up with people whom have shared similar experiences as Jehovah's Witnesses. Also, anyone who has been questioning the organization and are looking for support: I would like to offer support for those who need it. I also hope to come on here and find some former Jehovah's Witness friends. That would be incredible. I found one, not too long ago. Seperated for almost 22 years, it was wonderful for us to meet face to face.

Looking back 18-19 years ago, I had zero support. I could totally relate to your story: no friends, feeling awkward: 'As we could take ourselves out of the religion, but it was hard to take the religion out of us.' No kidding! How true. That's exactly how I felt way back. With the internet available, it's nice to have that connection to an on-line community that can relate to your own personal experience as Jehovah's Witnesses.

How long do I plan on staying? Not to be dismissive, but I will stay here for as long I like. It has been good for me and I have thoroughly enjoyed, thus far, the interactions I have had.

I don't think your post is offensive nor insulting, it's provocative, honest and brings attention to some of your observations. Some of which, are bang on and quite possibly shared by others on here.

Feb 8th Awake - cover picture

this issue has already furnished a couple of threads, but the cover picture really has haunted my mind since i saw it .. a vivid red border bears the big title "child prostitution a tragic reality" .

it is a monochrome image a little girl ,pre teen age.

she looks asian and is garishly clothed in a printed dress.

Oh...give her some spiritual food, a few magazines etc., and encourage her to go to meetings.

Bad timing for Borg. This is almost too hilarious given what's coming up on TV and what's been printed in mainstream press around the globe.

I haven't seen the cover either, but if it can be shown here, it would prove to be an eye-opener, I'm sure.

Do You Know Your Blood Type?

The universal donor/recipient. Scully, thanks for posting that graph earlier, it looks familiar. Very useful.

Generally speaking: Type O is the Universal Donor (as it has no anti-A or anti-B antigens) so it causes no reaction. Keep in mind, we're discussing Rh Positive blood here.

Generally speaking: Type AB is the Universal Recipient (as it has no antigen reaction to Type A or Type B) and Type O has no anti A or B antigens. So persons with Type AB, can receive TYPES: A, B, AB & O safely.

**Important to remember**

If someone is rh negative, they can only receive rh negative blood. This is where being rh negative can have disadvantages, and people whom are O Negative, can ONLY receive O Negative. Interestingly enough, their blood is the MOST valued, as it can be given to anyone: both Rh Positive or rh negative regardless of type.

Interestingly enough, an rh negative person, can safely give their blood to an Rh Positive person (within same blood type), again with O Negative being the one that anyone can receive.

For me, being A Negative, I can only receive the same, or O Negative.

Rh Positive blood if transfused into a an rh negative person, even with the same blood type, can cause a reaction. I has been done, but it throws the body's immune system out of wack, because the Rh Positive factor induces a response to the rh negative person's immune system.

Rhogam, yes, I am familiar with that. That is what has been given to women who are rh negative after they've had their first child.

For mothers expecting their first child, it is important (JW or XJW) to know their blood type so that there are no problems later on down the road with the birth of their child. Knowing this in advance may alleviate unnecessary surprises down the road later.

ABO incompatibility, is a SERIOUS matter. I am so glad to read that the 'little fellow' fought his way back from what could have been a tragic situation.

Good to know our ABO, even if YOU never need blood etc., good to know for reference. It makes the study of genetics, really interesting.

Oh Aztec...yeah, those tiny jpegs, leave a lot to the imagination.

Speaking of blood types....after being in 'that car that has crashed head-on into the guard rail', it's good to know ones blood type, just in case.

So that's a 'right-off' vehicle in the guard rail, btw.

No injuries, no worries! Higher insurance rates, that's all.

Scully, yes, you are so right: O Negative, (it is rare) and it is prized because it can be given to anyone, regardless of their blood type to anyone, safely. Yup, that makes you special.

Me, I can only give to another A neg. person, or AB neg. person. I can only receive yours (O Neg) and my own. The downside of rh negative blood.

Just in case, the long-long thread (you know which one), ah hahaha, has posted there, and it's a worthy read.

The vaccination link, is an interesting read. Thanks for posting it.

Having been involved in the medical field some time ago, there are pros and cons to vaccinations.

ah hahaha, use some emoticons when you can, so we can get a better sense of your affect when you are posting on here. And yes...a sense of humour goes a long long ways, so take it on the chin when you can.

Estee, you are indeed, a loving and caring Mom.

You'd be surprised how few words can indeed, speak volumes.

Good for you! that was indeed incredibly loving and caring. The pain you must endure as a shunned mother, must be unbelievable. If you were my Mom, I'd hug you to bits.

Caring enough to expose the WTBTS for what it is, and that your concern for their general welfare takes precedence over your own.

ESTEE: you can be my on-line Mom (or big sister, come to think of my age) anytime!

I commend you for writing that postcard.

Reading Older Publications Can Be Hazardous

in view of the many years covered, the material indexed some decades ago should be viewed in the light of proverbs 4:18: "the path of the righteous ones is like the bright light that is getting lighter and lighter until the day is firmly established.".

a lot of the real truth about the wts i have learned through their own publications.

Blondie, and many others on here: How true this is.

I do recall comments made from the podium, way back, about not delving too deeply into past publications.

The wonderful thing is, and I guess I am stating the obvious: The existence of this board, and the internet in general.

The information sharing, and exposing of WTBTS gobbledegook.

Former JWs, and those that are still connected to the Borg., can now share their 'truth' with others seeking, honest answers, and confirmation of their 'questions' or 'doubts'.

I remember studying an old publication that someone gave me (mistakenly) and I found it fascinating (then), and I would often be confused, but thought I was misinterpreting the WTBTS publication. I was no biblical genius or scholar, but just a regular average Joe trying to put together the pieces.

Oh well, I'm out of there now.

But a great topic Blondie, thanks!
