i want to thank all those that helped and encouraged me in my hard times!..hubby passed away from his cancer this morning.
i am so sad my heart is broken.
we decided to go ahead and have a memorial for him this weekend at the kingdom hall he went to.
Golden Girl, I extend my heartfelt sympathies and condolences to you.
This past year I lost my father to cancer as well.
Wishing you well, comfort, support and 'best of memories'.
Kindest regards from Ray (a.k.a. Rayzorblade).
so, has anyone here seen any good movies lately?
i saw "bowling for columbine" by michael moore, and it was excellent!
i saw "rules of attraction" and it was bizarre, but enjoyable.
Hey, I didn't see this one mentioned, but I am going to check out an Australian film called: RABBIT PROOF FENCE.
People here who saw it, raved about it. So I'm going to give it a go.
Actually, I'm glad you folks cared enough to post some reviews and opinions on some movies, because it always helps to get a 'reference' of sorts.
Thanks to everyone .
just wondering, all you non-canucks(canadians) on this forum.
what do you think of canada, and canadians?
be honest, good or bad or in between, it'd be neat to read what impression non-canadians have of us canuckastanis (thanks pat buchanan).
I go away for a day, come back and WOW!
I was laughing my butt off over here, reading peoples' postings on the topic of Soviet Canuckistan.
Thanks for everyones thoughts, I had a good rip snorting howling laugh going on here during the entire thread.
Thanks eh

i was raised as a jw.
my mind was formed by, and inexorably conformed to, wts doctrine.
i lived 38 (baptized) years in that mindset: right/wrong, prove this/disprove that, old light/new light.. several times over the last 25 years i really thought i'd broken free...now i was a new man, brave, open, speak my mind and help change the world.
RIGHT ON!
Any room on the cruiseship? This is a trip we all need to take.
Thanx, onacruse
many people became jehovah's witnesses because of the "love".
we were supposed to be "the most loving people on earth".
our identifying mark was said to be "love".
Honestly, I cannot complain. I have excellent loving friends and family. Not lacking any love.
two weeks ago my wife informed me that the local unitaran universalists wanted me to speak at their church service which is only two blocks from our house.
she failed to tell me they had originally asked her and she passed the buck, but alas, wiley as she is i agreed to it then heard the "rest of the story".
so last sunday i decided i would case the joint by attending their sunday service which was a great talk about the black tenor, paul roberson.
I remember that I would NOT even walk into a church or religious house of any sort post-JW.
Then around 1988 or so, I was out it a few years, and figured I would go take a look around.
I visited: Pentecostal, Presbyterian, Baptist, Buddhist, United, Anglican and a few others, some a one-time only deal.
But, I would get so exasperated, that I would simply, not go back.
I found that there was some degree of narrow-mindedness, and clashing of scriptural references or interpretations. I just fed up and said: "Screw it!"
So, now I'm just so not into any organized or disorganized church or house of worship what have you. Been there, done that.

i am interested in some of the stories or experiences related to running into, or being reunited with former jws from way back.
what was it like to see these people again?
what was it like to meet them as, non-jws?
Carmel, last time I checked that site. I think it got hijacked by hacker, and is a 'titty' site now.
