ever had the door slammed in your face?

how did you handle the embarrassment?.

Yup, had it happen a few times. I hated it, but understood why it happened.

It wore me down sometimes, if you had a couple of them in a row. Real filthy-mouthed asinine people. The worst: this one guy who followed us down the road, spouting off putrid remarks and hounding us even at other doors. He wouldn't let up. But when we were at another door, the householder looked out and said to this guy: "DO YOU MIND? I am quite capable of handling these people, now shut-up!" I kid you not. The householder did not like this neighbour (gee I wonder why?) They were nice, told us not to worry about 'him'. They weren't interested, but were polite and friendly.

We didn't do any more calls after that. That knocked the wind out of my sales.

I could go on about others, but there was nothing particularly unique about them, just angry and obnoxious.

Glad I don't do that anymore .

ok i went to the welfare office this morning.. the case worker was a very nice lady, her name is maria.

all smiles and very friendly too.. she knows about the wal-mart situation and has gotten alot of employees who have gotten fired for whacked out reasons.. she needs some info from wal-mart, but problem is that wal-mart tends to screw with the social workers trying to get info from them and she's had been given alot of run arounds from them before.

so she told me it would be 2-3 weeks before she gets any info from wal-mart before i can get any help from them.

i know many like myself have had alot of different experiances and have met many different people since leaving the jw's.my question is do you think you knew or found people to be more intelligent in the organization or have you found people to be more stimulating and intelligent outside the organization, setting aside the fact that the people in the organization are apart of it?

i'm just curious as to peoples experiances.

Well, overall, people on the outside were more stimulating.

Inside the Kingdom Hall, there were many intelligent people. Most of them, obviously stifled because of the organizations view on post-secondary education.

Generally, it seems the real smart and intelligent ones: got out!

Yeah, that font stuff got all messed up eh? LOL. When I reached my posting limit, I had to copy and paste all that stuff elsewhere. So some of the emoticons or use of bold font (easier on my bad eyes ) - it looks so wacked when I transfer it.

Honestly, I did not know he was not a JW. Oh well. Glad you pointed that out. But I don't mind giving someone a moral boost if and when possible.

Brummie, is that nickname have any reference to Birmingham? Just curious. Thanx!

Overall, I have to admit, I have been impressed with the 'moral support' offered to Yizuman during the last little while. Others have been given that little bit of encouragement on occasion, and overall it seems to have helped many.

Sometimes humour can come across awkwardly in written form. I try to use those emoticons whenever I can. Given that we cannot hear each other aurally on here, so much can be misinterpretted. Having worked with the deaf and hearing impaired, I have seen first hand some of the challenges these people face.

Also, those dealing with depression, it can be, incapacitating at times. But I think everyone is aware of that. On a positive note, I like to think, even on a small scale, if I were feeling down in the dumps, or happy as can be, I can come here to share my thoughts and feelings without prejudice.

Yiz comes here for support, and having been a JW, he has at least that one thing in common with us, that draws him here. I know I had some episodic depression/sadness while being a dub. Maybe Yiz has a bit of that going on, not sure. But having worked with the deaf and hearing impaired for a number of years, they do have special needs, and sometimes what seems trivial to us (hearing population) can be intimidating and overwhelming to them. They are so often misunderstood.

Anyways, if we can impart any moral support or share some information to help anyone out, I say: go for it .

Keep your chin up Yiz .

in my life i've noticed that the people who everyone likes, never have any close friends, because they never share themselves, and they never dispute idiocy.

everyone "likes" them, but those people have no one who "cares" about them.
