  Should I let my kids visit my JW parents?

  i have a dilema.

  my parents are still active jw.

  last year they told me they had to limit their association with me.

  Thanks Teejay for enlightening me of your situation. I too, would welcome both my mom and dad into my arms wholeheartedly, if they came to me and said they truly wanted to see my children and would not try to influence them in any way, and just wanted to be family again, and set aside the religion shit, to be frank.

  I am a person that forgives, I do consider that I have a big heart. My home is always welcome to them, but I cannot at this stage, allow them to degrade my family.

  So when my parents come to me to try and fix our so called "dsyfunctional family" I'll be there to listen. My home is open to them, even if they chose to stay with the borg.

  Memorial for a friend: Huge Success

  first off i'd like to say a huge thank you to so many of you for posting to my topic regarding my friend's memorial a couple of weeks ago.

  all of the information was read and all suggestions considered, and many were utilized.

  i figured that at least a couple of you on this forum would be able to contribute to what was then, my upcoming involvement in my friend's memorial.

  Its great to celebrate ones life in the way you handled your friend's passing, rather than using it as an opportunity to witness to someone.

  Would you take your shoes off?

  if you went to someones house as a guest and they asked you to take your shoes off..would you?..would you be offended?....

  does anyone know if this is proper etiquette?.

  didn't know where else to post this........ my daughter was invited to a neighbors house and they requested people remove their shoes!...she never had anyone ask her that before.

  When wearing snowshoes, it's so much easier to take them off than walking through someones home smashing and breaking everything in sight.

  LOL Razorblade.

  We don't all wear snowshoes here. Big snowmobile boots though, to keep our tootsies warm while driving to work.

  IMO, children have a right to know their family (including their JW grandparents) and categorically ruling out all association with them would be -- at least for *my* daughter -- a tragedy.

  Teejay, yes children have a right to know their extended family. I work in family law and I am well aware as to how judge's view this also. And yes it is a tragedy that grandparents sometimes forfeit their rights, due to their actions, to see their grandchildren. My parents (my mom) made a choice not to call me to see my children. I set the ground rules, they chose to ignore and leave us alone. What else could I do. I feel sorry for them that they are missing out on their grandchildren.

  My daughter has great grandparents, both in and out of the truth™. That's why I earlier said that not all JWs are the same.

  That's wonderful, but there are going to be a few that don't have this type of circumstance and the parents have to make a choice in keeping what family they have left together and sane.

  You obviously don't have a mom like mine. I couldn't trust her as far as I could throw her. I perceive her to be a lying snake in the grass. There is no way, unless she changes, that my kids will see her. Do I want someone to divide and conquer, and put a wedge between my children. NO!

  Thats my thoughts

  of the "not to be judged harshly class" unless you walk in my shoes.

  Well I have been brought up to take my shoes off when I enter someones house. It's common courtesy, I thought.

  Now if you come from a place that it never rains or snows, and you have street cleaners coming down your street everyday, by all means keep your shoes on.

  a portion of my story

  hey everyone, as if you have not heard a story like this before:.

  i'm currently studying for exams being a railroad conductor(one of the exams is april 17th).

  while that is stressful enough , i've realized that sometimes something as simple as encouragement or support from someone you care about deeply goes a long way.

  Welcome gentleman. I'll wish you good luck on your exam.

  Don't be too hard on her, as you no doubt have seen from the posts here, the mindset of the jw borg is a very strong one, not easy to get away from, especially when you have family in there. When your given the ultimatum choose Jehovah or someone out of the borg, it is a very scary feeling. I was in that position many times.

  Joanna brought out the point to set the grounds rules with the grandparents.

  I just wanted to add to my post of yesterday. When I talked to my mom after the hospital incident. I told her point blank that she could not try to influence my daughter in any way, ANYMORE. That if she wanted to see my kids that she would have to abide by my wishes, treat them equally, blah blah, blah.

  I left the conversation that the ball was in her court, and that she could call me anytime to see the children. Well its been a year, she has chosen not to call.
