Angry mob of Facebook JWs.
by fade_away ini was looking through my facebook and one of the friends i have on there is very angry at a particular girl who added brothers and sisters from different congregations as friends for the sole purpose of bashing the jws on their profiles.
they use the word "bashing" but who knows really if all she was doing was showing them genuine, unbiased information about the wt.
anyway, i got a kick out of the fact that an "apostate" infiltrated a lot of jw profiles as a "friend" then went all apostate on them!.

Watchtower Shaming language, Code Red: The unwarranted anger fallacy.
The JW(s) in question claim that the XJW's anger is unwarranted and the JW shuts down any further reasoning with the XJW.

Update on Wrongplanet thread!
So far, it seems as though both JWs are afraid to debate with me since I'm countering every statement they made with a quote from the Watchtower. Both have fled the messageboard. Lee 1 to the 8 millionth power: Hapless JWs-0.

You're only an ATHEIST because of the abusive relationship you had with your former religion..?
by Velour inthe few times that i've had a chat about my atheism, i usually get a response like the one above.
"well, seeing how you were in a cult- i can understand why you're an atheist now," just dismissing the bulk of the reasons i have for my disbelief.. i think what is particularly awkward about someone telling me this is- it's part way true- only part way though.
however, they stop listening after i explain to them that, "yes, being in a cult was an impetus to my search" and they fail to hear the rest of what i'm saying and believe that i went from point a to point f and just skipped all the steps and months of research in between out of some kind of anti-jw tantrum.

Oh, yeah, about the av: A long time ago, during the simpsons movie craze, the entire board decided to "Simpsonize" themselves, me included. I made a Simpsons avatar which bore a slight resemblence to me at the time. Now I have a beard and an afro.

I'm a Deist, BTW because I think all the legends of gods, faries and myths are too great in number to ignore, but are also too fantastic to be taken literally.

To be honest, that's what I've noticed a lot about the belivers turned Atheists on this board and on many other boards. There's such a vitriol towards religion to the point where it becomes hate and not bored disinterest. If you were truly an atheist and not an anti-worshipper of Yahweh, you'd simply think Yahweh's right up there with Zeus, Odin, Ra, Uranus, Gonesh, the Yellow Emperorer and other ficticious gods instead of dedicating so much time bashing people based on their religious beliefs.

Three wise women would have ... Zoned out when getting those same directions Arrived on time, but put the donkeys through so much wear and tear that they had to take the donkeys to the vet. Helped deliver the baby, but would have fainted at the sight of blood. Cleaned the stable... and thrown away the rare 20BC rookie scroll of the stablemaster's favorite gladiator that was hanging up on the walll of the stable. Made a casserole.... with shellfish... in Judea.. Brought practical gifts... which the 3 wise women deemed were practical instead of simply asking Joseph and Mary what they wanted.
