as most all of you know, i am a vietnam veteran, serving with c troop 7/17th air cavalry from july of 1969 to january 1, 1971. i have heard before that the bond formed by combat veterans is forever.

i can now say that is a true statement.

when first assigned to c troop, i met a man by the name of ron strickland and we hit it off as buddies, becoming best friends, in my estimation.

Thank you for sharing your story & photos with us. Two of my mothers brothers served in the armed forces. One of her brothers served during the Korean war the other in Vietnam. They both returned home safely. My grandmother was ever so greatful. I grew up listening to their stories.

As a kid how did you survive the meetings?

recently my brother, sister, and i talked for the first time about how we survived the meetings when we were kids.

i loved hearing their stories.. i had a whole imaginary world i went into.

once the songs were over and the talk started, i would focus on the speaker to look like i was listening and then zone out.

I can honestly say for the first 9 years of my life I turned in the best sleep ever at the KH, especially during weekday meetings. Soon after that I would talk through the meetings with my siblings or cousins and pass notes. Oh yes, and lots of bathroom breaks. This was from ages 1-10 after that I became a proper christian.
