food for thought.
by zev inthe labyrinthine world of doublethink.
to know and not to know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them, to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy was impossible and that the party was the guardian of democracy, to forget whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back into memory again at the moment when it was needed, and them promptly forget it again, and above all, to apply the same process to the process itself- that the ultimate subtlety: consciously to induce unconsciousness, and then, once again, to become unconscious of the act of hypnosis you had just performed.
even to understand "doublethink" involved the use of doublethink.~~~~ 1984 .. by george orwell ..page 32 .

George Orwell is a fascinating writer his dissection of poltical party thinking and inner mechanisms of government is right on the mark. I read his books 1984/Animal Farm years back the message remains fresh and new timeless.

by ScoobySnax inok with the death of nina simone today at 70, i got to thinking about other great artists who have died.
many would say elvis, but he wouldn't feature if i had to pick just 3. mine would go something like this.
3. tammy wynette (stand by your man was a song that'll always remind me of my grandad who died 10 years ago, always makes me smile and remember him, and her collaboration with the klf circa 1992. justified and ancient.

Spiritual GIANT, or Mental MIDGET???
by LDH inthere was once an elder in our congregation, he and his wife were regular pioneers, of course.
and of course, they cleaned windows for a living.. they lived in the basement of a decades old building, in what amounted to a studio apartment.
i think the square footage was about 8. church mice could've loaned these two money.. of course, being a young jw and believing most of the malarkey you are told, you tend to look up to these men as spiritual giants, even though most of what they talk about is pure, unadulterated bullshit.. let me give you an example.. k* and d* always enjoyed their coffee.

Oh yeah, did I ever know people who traveled down this road. It's considered righteous poverty. My sisters sister in law & husband did the whole poverty=spiritual success routine opting for a life of missionary abroad work, stint at BHQ & GS the whole razzle dazzle. Its looked upon as a noble choice amongst JW circles.

Yes, I know exactly how you feel. When I left the org I left behind everything familiar everything I grew up believing in and understanding. I didn't know how to be anything other than a Jehovahs Witness. I had been a christian all my life. My brother and sister looked down upon my choice not wanting to follow in their footsteps choosing instead to follow my mother down the path of iniquity.
It was terribly difficult I closed myself off I didn't want to believe in anything anymore I didn't want to pray, read scriptures or anything I associated my spirituality with being a JW.
Give yourself the space you need. Healing takes time you made a life altering choice. Listen to your inner voice it will guide you and help you navigate through the rough waters.

What's Your Opinion Of Charles Taze Russell?
by minimus inthe founder of tbe watchtower has been said to be a good christian man, "the faithful steward", a child molester, "the laodecian messenger", a fraud, and a number of other things.
when you became a witness, charles taze russell might have been downplayed or exalted, depending upon who was talking about him.
what is your opinion of the society's first president??

These rumors are a part of JW legend and lore always plentiful in the Kingdom Hall. Also check out cftf. com and WATCHTOWERINFORMATIONSERVICE.ORG I found an article in 1 of these 2 sites that touch upon this subject matter.
