Are the JW rules different worldwide ??? and WHY ???

i have read alot of threads recently and it seems to me that each country of jw's has a set of different rules.

maybe most of the doctrines are the same, but there seems to be a big difference in ............... beards ........ clothing ........ tatoos ......... piercing body ......... grooming in general ......... cars ........... jobs you do ........ schooling .............. university ........... dating .......... what do you think ????????.

i read one comment (can't remeber who it was) who said that the usa jw's seem to be alot more concerned about stupid little things then most other countries.. hopefully we will get comments from all over the world on this topic, and compare some differences.. also brings up the question why ???????.

Rules! Rules! Rules! That is their way of controlling down to the smallest item. CONTROL makes them feel powerful and important. It's all about them, you see, not about love and compassion for the people.

One CO didn't like mustaches so all the bros had to shave until he was moved to another circuit - then grew them back when they found out the new CO was more reasonable. Same CO railed against women wearing pants that zipped up the front - we don't have the proper "plumbing!" so we don't need it. Let's see him try to zip something up the side or back, he'd find it not so easy!

Do You Know Your Blood Type?

for some, i know the blood-issue is a touchy subject, but it's interesting to know it.

you'd be surprised especially when the case of an rh-negative mother may give birth to an rh-positive child.

A- the blood bank calls me frequently, but I can only donate in emergency situations, otherwise I am tired all the time if I donate on a regular basis. Rhogam was new when my 4th baby was born in 1972, and being a good dub I didn't take it. I don't know the blood type of my first 2, but I am assuming they were positive as my oldest daughter had no problem when she was pregnant with her daughter. My 3rd child, a girl was RH- so no problem there, but #4 was RH+ and I listened to a bunch of stuff over and over. No more babies after that, so I didn't have to worry. Aunthill

Sounds like poetic justice to me. My daughter was molested as a child and if I had seen him, I would have ripped his head off. I learned that the perp had died from sniffing glue - more poetic justice. I was talking with someone a while back, about this, and was surprised to find the anger and delight I had felt was gone.

My daughter has gone past the molestation and is doing well now, thank you.

Quit a 2 1/2 pack a day habit in 1969, cold turkey, to become a Witless. I'm with KGB, it's the 2nd best thing I ever did for myself, with the first best being receiveing Christ as Lord and Savior, 5 years ago.

Now run along home like a good little dub before your PO finds out you have been lurking on a *horrors* apostate board and you get your perfect little self disfellowshipped.

Back to the thread, Jehovah sure didn't help me when I was trying to be a good little dub myself, working a full time job, cooking, cleaning, doing laundry for 3 kids & unbelieving husband, trying to make 5 count 'em 5 meetings a week, get 10 hours in service every month (ha!). No, getting out of the bOrg was one of the best things I ever did for myself.

Need advice on splitting up with my JW girlfriend

many of you that i have become friendly with on this board will probably know the story of me and my jw girlfriend.

for those that don't, here is the lowdown:.

three and a half years ago i met my girlfriend, and everything seemed great until about two or three months later she told me that she used to be a jw (and that her brother and certain other family members still were).

There is no good/easy way to break up with someone. She may be wondering the same thing, too, though.

IMO, one thing you shouldn't say is "I still love you." I think if you said something like "It seems like we're moving in different directions in our life paths, you're reconnecting with the Witnesses and I'm going on to University. Maybe we should just agree to disagree and go our separate ways." That way, no one is the "bad guy" - it's just a mutual parting of the ways.

She may surprise you and be relieved, but then again, don't be sucked in and change your mind if she cries, marrying her because of emotional blackmail would be a major, major mistake. She has already stated that she knows you would have to split up sometime in the future, if she were going to get baptized, and there is no sense in prolonging the inevitable.

In any case, good luck, and don't get involved with anyone else who has been connected with the Witnesses!

What are people/parent so scared of in life, that makes them join the JW's?

i asked my mom this recently, and did not get an answer ..... she just said because it's the truth, and became very flustered.. death ???.

kids falling into drugs ???.

pregnancy ???.

I joined because I liked the idea that God wasn't going to allow the world to be blown to smithereens. I grew up in southern Nevada, about 150 miles from the Nevada Test Site, and I remember sitting on the sitting on the schoolhouse steps and watching the mushroom cloud from the above ground testing of a nuclear "device." In those days we would have air raid drills, too, where we would take cover under our desks - not much protection from a nuclear blast or fallout, so the idea of a paradise earth was appealing to me. That, plus the fact that JW's seemed to be able to answer my questions, whereas my priest hadn't, made the religion very attractive.

Unfortunately, I stayed way too long after doubts began to surface, but I finallyDA'd in 1994.
