Within my area, the numbers have stayed the same or gone up a little for the most part. We have had a couple people reinstated and a new family along with a few individuals join our congregation just this year. It's really the Hispanic congregations in my area that are booming though. They have split about 3-4 times within the last 2 years. It's like a wild fire there.

rebel8: 'Can anyone present evidence that "They are going to charge members monthly fees "?'
You mean like this?
That is not an official form from the WTBTS nor does it request the name of the submitter. It appears the local congregation that passed that slip around wanted to go an extra step to come up with something a bit fancier.

There is no monthly fee that each publisher is obligated to pay nor is there an official form to fill out in order to process this. Per one of the most recent letters addressed to the BOE, some congregations were asked to write down how much they think they could contribute every month and turn it in anonymously. This was to give the elders an estimate of how much they could forward to the WTBTS on a monthly basis due to some financial changes perhaps. Not all congregations followed that method however. Some BOE's just averaged out the monthly contributions over the last year and presented a resolution to the congregation to get passed. This resolution was a certain amount of money that would get forwarded to the WTBTS as well. At our congregation, they did not pass around slips to turn in anonymously, but there was a resolution that was read and passed to forward $300 every month to the WTBTS. This was based on the monthly average contributions over that last year. Hopefully that clears up your request. Also within the letter to the BOE, those with an outstanding loan on a Kingdom Hall were advised to forward an equivalent or great amount each month as the current loan’s monthly payment.

A serving elder's take on the new "tithing" arrangement
by TTATTelder inthe gb can kiss my ass.. i'm writing "0" on the little slip of paper they pass out.. hey here's a thought:.
you know that "widow's might" stuff they're always talking about?
well i'm pretty dang sure that the lady was giving from the heart not because she filled out some dumba$$ piece of paper pledging two small coins several months previous!.

You are better off putting an exaggerated number on that sheet and not contributing a dime. There is no way they can enforce that slip if you don’t put in money.

There's a lot I still like for those that are actually genuine. Most here were a JW at one point with sincere interest. If you can see those people for who they are, and I toss out the brainwashing part, many of my friends are sincere and have helped me when I needed them. I have done likewise for them. My pool of friends have been great people but have reached a mental road block due to the strong indoctrination. Of course just like everywhere else in life, you will always meet Mr. Prick and Mrs. Judgmental as well.

Why get upset with the new WT donation system? It will still be a success...
by suavojr inwhen the wt went from charging for literature to voluntary donations, they took a hit but still survived.. i frankly see them having a high success once this new donation system is in place.
it will be a success and no dissenter or closet apostate will be able to stop it.
because although we hate the wt and would love to see them disappear, we cannot forget the ones inside will gladly donate, donate, donate.. just look at other churches!

That’s what I noted in a previous thread. When the announcement was made, everyone was just bubbling over with joy and excitement. People nearly started clapping. The WTBTS isn’t going down any time soon. Some that even get DF’d still go to meetings so they can genuinely return. Even within our congregation, we have had two reinstatements just this year. These people are thoroughly brainwashed beyond help.

Reverse Witnessing - Will NEVER work!
by MissConfused inits been a while since i spoke up.
after a lot of 'tactful' questioning, i have come under the conclusion that witnessing ttatt with dubs will never work.
there is nothing called reasoning with them.

It may work for a few, but ultimately in the long run it will have ZERO impact on bringing down this religion as a whole. From what I can see, JWs are going to be sticking around for a LONG time. As long as mankind has a fear of death, people get sick, injustice/war continues (despite it being at an all-time low), and people need hope for a better future, religion in general will always continue be a part of human culture. Humans will fund religion to keep them ignorant. Pay up folks.

Is this new donation arrangement for real?
by nugget injust read a post on jwsurvey about the new donation arrangement.
congregations are to pledge a monthly amount to be sent to the society to fund the building of assembly halls and kingdom halls.
congregations who already have a loan from the society will no longer have to pay back the loan but the amount pledged should not be less than the current monthly repayments to the society.

@Emeth - What I was trying to ask is do you think the WTBTS is struggling with getting enough money to keep going, or do you think they have plenty of money and it is not a problem for them.

@Emeth - Do you think the WTBTS is in a financial pickle right now?
