as a jw, we were always told that god was blessing us, because we were doing his will.
jw's saw god's hand everywhere in our lives.
if we had good news, a good job, good health, it was because god was blessing us.
Yes, I remember how some would go on about the blessing of having a greater share in the service, being called upon to participate at an assembly, carrying a microphone. Nevertheless, they all seemed so sad and burdened down that I think the word blessing was terribly abused.
Its a real blessing now to be able to think for myself and do some of the things I've always wanted to do before its too late to enjoy them.

did any of you hear any of the urban legends that jw's used to scare people into being deathly afraid of demons?
for example i remeber hearing that a child brough a smurf doll to a meeting and upon hearing the name jehovah uttered it got up and walked out.

The only one I can remember was the story about albumin in food being made from blood. Always figured this for a crock as it would be easier and cheaper to get it from eggs....

I do most anything that isn't illegal, immoral or fattening....the standards I use today. Have been voting for the past 2 years and always say 'bless you' when someone sneezes.
Quit smoking in ' 86 and have no desire to return to the habit...either ciggies or drugs. Sometimes have a beer or glass of wine, but not when I'm driving.
I guess I live by the standards that are right for me and not those dictated by a quasi-religious organization.

because jehovah's witnesses are considered the "happiest people on earth", you would think that jehovah's witnesses would be, as a group, happy.
very few witnesses that i know are genuinely happy.
most are either depressed or feeling that they are inadequate.
The only 'happy' witnesses I know are the ones on antidepressants. The others are walking around with a glum, somber, serious look on their faces and look like a visit to hell would be more fun....or even a root canal. One sister, an elders wife, used to come into the Kingdom Hall with such a scowl on her face that changed only when her husband poked her in the ribs and she pasted on a sickly smile.
Its so sad that those who expect to live in the New World can't get a little bit happy now.

something familiar among the younger crowd is to have stickers of the aftermarket products that they have used (or claimed to be using) in their cars.
parents with smart kids have "my son/daughter are on the honor role" while parents of dumb children have "my kid beat up your honor student".

thursday, while working at an abandoned house, i found two abandoned puppies.
i suppose they are about two to three months old.
they look like a rot/pit mix.

We have an organization here that adopts animals from the pound and gets them neutered and vaccinated then displays them at local PetsMart Stores and Petco Stores on the weekends. They get a lot of attention and many are adopted. While awaiting adoption they live with foster families who keep them healthy and groomed to make them more 'adoptable'. They are exposed to cats and other pets as well as children and oldsters....good practice for their future.
If you can't find the 'kids' a home; see if there is a similar org. where you live.

Yeah, TR, I need another mouth to feed like a frog needs a Mercedes. Just last week I cruised by death row at the local pound and brought home another Cattle Dog. He's big and clumsy with feet the size of saucers....such a goofy face, though.
Good luck in finding homes for the pupsters....they deserve a break in life.

Ever since I was a child I could hear and understand animals. Sometimes we could actually carry on a brief conversation with mental pictures.
When I joined the dubs, I suppressed that as anyone I mentioned it to would say it was the influence of demons.
Now that I'm away from the WT nonsense I'm cultivating it again. It is amazing to me that children have this power naturally and the adults in their lives squash it.
Just think about it! Did Eve run to Adam and say that the snake spoke to her? No. Perhaps they routinely conversed with animals.

Hi Happysistah and welcome. I tossed out all the idiot beliefs taught by the Watchtower Society along with most of the literature and reaffirmed my belief in Almighty God and His son Jesus. I view God and His son as the only ones I will offer worship to and pray to. I will never again allow a group of morons to shape my reality.
