well, i don't have the most active or exciting life, so i've been thinking about getting a pet to liven things up a little around the homestead.

Hi Dan....cats make very good pets for men. It takes a strong man, sure of his masculinity and independence to put up with an independant creature. The advantages are that you don't have to take them for walks...unless you both want to. You can leave them alone for the day with adequate food and water and they'll be happy to snuggle with you when you come home.

i had just received my tax forms back from my accountant with a note stating that he tried to call me but had a invalid number.
in writing he told me that he did not put my rent down as a deduction just like last year.

I heard about it on the car radio...the initial reports were that a commuter jet had hit the first tower and that it was an accident. I arrived home in time to turn on the TV and see the second plane hit the other tower. There was such a sick feeling over the many lives lost and feeling for the first time since Pearl Harbor how vulnerable we were.

Well, lets see....the hedge would get trimmed. The leaves would all be raked up. My plants would be pruned and transplanted. The dogs would earn their Canine Good Citizen certificates. I'd get the car tuned up and the tires rotated. The carpets would be cleaned.
Sigh....if I only had the time....

yesterday i found out that my best friend has colon cancer.
they removed what they could of the tumor, during the colonoscopy, but my friend now needs to wait another 8 days until the inflamation goes down until an ultrasound can be done to see how much remains and also to check to see if the lymph nodes are enlarged.
she knows that she will need to have surgery to remove the section of intestine that has the cancer, but they don't yet know what "stage" it is at.
So sorry to hear of your friend's illness. My mother died of colon cancer. She refused surgery because of the blood issue and firmly believed that armageddon was about to happen any moment. That was back in 1968 and she was 57 years old. What a waste of human life. I hope your friend sought and received treatment early-on and will have a good recovery.

are any of you concerned about the nile disease and mosquiteos?
i love to sit in my back yard in the spring and summer in my swing and read or just sit and enjoy the birds, squirles etc.
but the mosquitoes are out there also and the nile disease is everywhere.
If you can stand the smell of it, citronella repels the little buggers. Some other aromatics are; Virginia cedarwood, rosemary, lavander, lemongrass and thyme. This mixture I've used and it has kept them at bay.
Two mosquitos were talking the other day while contemplating my husband. "should we eat him here or take him home to the kids?"
