my daughter joined the jw and on various occasions i have asked her some questions about the jws and their practices.

her responses always seemed to be incomplete.

a question i have for you folkes on the board is what kind of remuneration does the jw organization get from the members and what do the elders and others do in the way getting the necessary funds from the members.

A question I have for you folkes on the board is what kind of remuneration does the JW organization get from the members and what do the elders and others do in the way getting the necessary funds from the members. Is it a set understanding or what. How much is "recommended" for the various hand outs. If they get payment from a "customer" for the printed material, do they keep it or must they hand it in to the organization. Do JWs practice tithing as practiced in many religions.

i am researching the christian bible and all the versions that exist today.

i have heard that the jw bible was printed in the 1950s.

does anyjone know who were the persons in the jw organization(s) were responsible for the changes made.. .

How on earth do you go about getting such detailed information. I was also interested in obtaining all I can get on Russell but I don't know how. Can you give me an idea?

Various religions have different ways of indoctrinating a person into believing in what he says. If you elect to join a religion just wipe out the doctrine part and you are back to the basics which is useful to run a society and generate the necessary laws to live with.

Answer door?

a few years ago we lived in a different city and my wife and i had a battle when a jw would come to the door.

my wife liked to hide and like to answer the door and talk to them.

i am rather stubborn that way.

A few years ago We lived in a different city and my wife and I had a battle when a JW would come to the door. My wife liked to hide and like to answer the door and talk to them. I am rather stubborn that way. Noone on this planet is going to stop me from doing what I want in my own home.

The last visit was with a woman who thought she knew everything. I told her that she was misguided. The reply was "of course not". Well I mentioned that I had a book "Crisis... and in the same sentence I mentioned that she would not be permitted to read it as it was on JW shit list. Well she proceded to read me the riot act and that noone is going to tell her what to read or not read.

I handed her the book and told her she can borrow the book so she could take it with her. She took the book and I haven't seen her since. I wonder what happened to her?

In a previous encounter, I asked what was her definition of a lie. Her answer was an "untruth". So I countered with the question, "what if I were to describe a situation that happened and I omitted certain aspects which would lead you to believe the opposite to what actually happened, would you consider it a lie. She was totally speechless. For a JW to be speechless, especially her, is a rare event. I find that in having a conversation with JW's it is best to ask questions and study to find out what questions to ask.

Who was the Bible written for?

i am having a discussion with my elder bro-in-law, and he says the bible was written for all people.... but i'm sure i've read somewhere that the wt says its only meant to be understood by the faithful and discreet slave..or 144,000..am i right?

i'm a bit confused on this point.

anyone got any references that i can include in my reply to my jw bro?.

Anyone who takes the bible contents literally or any way that suggests that a persons life must be so regimented that if not followed according to an individual's or group of individuals interpretation will be condemned, needs some degree of psyciatric care. There is no indication that the belief systems in operation today were ever created, invented or associated with God. If a person thinks that the proof is contained in the bible itself, it is the same as asking a salesman how good is the product he is selling. There is no doubt that the Bible does contain some words of wisdom. The only sensible deduction is that these words were indeed written and/or said by very brilliant men of the time.

I am researching the Christian Bible and all the versions that exist today. I have heard that the JW Bible was printed in the 1950s.

Does anyjone know who were the persons in the JW organization(s) were responsible for the changes made.

I have heard of the existance of the Theocratic "WAR" doctrine? Is there a printing of this document and where could I get a copy? I am particularly interested in any internal publication that the rank and file member does not have access to?
